Coronation Street scenes this week will see Lauren Bolton's son Frankie go missing after Max Turner introduces him to Joel's parents, who have returned to the cobbles

Coronation Street could air a poignant departure in upcoming episodes.

On Wednesday’s edition of This Morning, soap expert Sharon Marshall returned to share the latest spoilers with ITV viewers, hinting at a potential heartbreaking farewell on the cobbles.

Speaking about Coronation Street’s Lauren Bolton, portrayed by Cait Fitton, Sharon, 53, commented: “She’s trying to be a mother, she killed Joel [Deering] to save Max [Turner] but is she about to lose her child because Joel’s parents are back and probably even worse than him?”

A sneak peek clip then showed Max confronting Joel’s parents, Gus and Anthea Deering. Max is seen saying: “No, no, you’ve blown it, you’re not getting another minute with Frankie!”

Anthea warns in return: “Leave Frankie, he’s asleep!” while Gus explains: “We had no other way of him paying respects to his father!”, reports Lancs Live.

Max responds in disbelief: “Respect? No, no, he doesn’t deserve any respect and neither do you! He’s going back to his mum, right now!”

Gus, standing firm, declares: “I’m afraid that won’t be possible…” to which Anthea supports by adding: “He can’t go back to his mother!”

This revelation clearly stuns Max who says: “You what?” as Gus reveals: “Things have changed!” Sharon noted after the teaser: “Oooh, I’m starting to see where Joel got it all from!”

With it teased Lauren could lose her son Frankie, could this mean an exit for the youngster on the cobbles?

This week’s scenes show Max introducing Lauren’s son Frankie to Joel’s parents, Gus and Anthea. However, when Max leaves them alone with Frankie for a moment, he is taken aback to find them missing upon his return.

In the meantime, Lauren is upset to discover bruises on Frankie’s body and learns that he has been hospitalised for further tests. What could have possibly happened to Frankie?
