ITV Coronation Street exit sealed for Summer as she makes plan to leave Cobbles for good

Summer Spellman could be leaving Coronation Street in a new storyline ahead of another big exit for the family in the coming few months

Summer Spellman

Summer Spellman could be leaving Coronation Street for good ahead of another sad exit.

The young character has been on the show since 2017, when she arrived as the daughter of a man named Charlie. She had been adopted by Drew Spellman, a former flame of Billy Mayhew’s. However, when Drew got a terminal cancer diagnosis, she was introduced to Todd Grimshaw and Billy, who became her new legal guardians.

Since then, she has become a key part of the Cobbles and has been part of some huge storylines. But next week, she could make a huge decision which could see her leave Corrie for good as she’s offered a big opportunity.

Next week, she admits to Billy that she has been offered a chance to study in America. However, she tells him she knows it’s not the right time amid Paul’s diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease. Will she decide to go or is she staying put?

It comes after it was confirmed Paul Foreman star Peter Ash will be leaving the soap, likely this year, in a sad storyline.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press: “I was called into the producer’s office late last year, and he said we’ve got this very big storyline for you, which will be a great thing to do, but it will mean an eventual exit. I had mixed feelings obviously.

I’ll be sad to leave the show. It’s an amazing job, I’ve met fantastic people. I’ll be sad to leave but at the same time, I’m quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline which will hopefully bring awareness to it. It’s a double edged sword.”It’s likely that viewers will see Paul pass away this year as 2023 was his last Christmas with his family.

Speaking before the emotional festive scenes aired, he said: “We’re filming Christmas at the moment, yeah, we’re usually two months ahead so we’re all fed up with it [Christmas] already! It’s quite a sad Christmas really, for Paul, he finds out that he’s got six to 12 months left, so it’s looking likely this could be his last Christmas. So for him, it’s just making the most of every little moment and spending it with the family and kids.”

There was also a temporary exit for Bernie Winter when she was sentenced for her part in handling stolen goods. However, she was soon released and is now back with her twins – Gemma and Paul – amid their own life struggles.
