ITV Coronation Street fume as they spot clue Roy Cropper will be jailed for Lauren’s murder

Coronation Street fans were left fuming tonight – as things were seemingly made worse for Roy Cropper.

Roy – played by David Neilson – is currently in prison, having being refused bail after he was charged with Lauren Bolton’s murder. He was devastated to find out he wouldn’t be allowed out on bail as he awaited his trial, whilst his loved ones including Nina and Carla took aim at Dee-Dee for causing his incarceration, which was of course not her fault.

Tonight, Bobby decided he needed to take action and went to the police to give a false witness statement about the night of Lauren’s disappearance, insisting he had seen a man there – but it wasn’t Roy.

However, fans fumed tonight at Bobby as they’re convinced it will make things worse for Roy and he will be sent down.

One wrote: “Noo Bobby you have just made things worse for Roy #Corrie,” whilst a second added: “Swain knows Bobby is lying for Roy #Corrie.” A third shared: “Bobby is clearly lying to get Roy off the hook. #Corrie #CoronationStreet.”

“What are you doing Bobby lying to the police its just gonna end in tears #coronationstreet #corrie,” a fourth penned, whilst a fifth wrote: “False statement? Good idea, Bobby #Corrie.” Taking to Twitter, a sixth fan shared online: “Oh Bobby you’ve just made things worse. Lying to the police could get you sent down #Corrie.”

David Neilson – who plays Roy – has admitted his own character’s downfall amid this huge murder plot.

“I respect the character a lot, I think he’s made a difference and I put a lot into it. He came in as ‘Creepy Cropper’.. I remember when I first came into the show and I was in York somewhere and there was a couple chatting and one said to the other ‘There’s that weirdo from Coronation Street’ and I thought wow. Then of course over time he sort of evolved and people seem to like him and I love him. I think what people love is his struggle with life and this is part of his struggle,” he said of his time on the show so far.

“He’s sort of on the ropes with this one. But he hasn’t got any choice, it has happened to him again. He continues to do what he thinks is the right thing, he can’t do any other. Now that’s the problem. If he could, I think he would. That’s what everyone around him is telling him to do, to behave like others, be more what other people would consider ‘normal’ but he’s not like that. He can’t be like that. Otherwise he wouldn’t be in this situation and it is only going to get worse.”
