ITV Coronation Street fans ‘rumble’ Joel baby twist – and it’s bad news for the cobbles villain

Coronation Street fans are convinced they've figured out a baby twist involving villain Joel Deering

Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve figured out a baby twist involving villain Joel Deering.

Soap fans will recall that it recently finally came out that Joel was the one who attacked and nearly killed Lauren Bolton. Joel had coerced Lauren into a relationship, where he groomed her with gifts and money before turning violent. When Lauren wanted to end things he attacked her, with Lauren going into hiding.

Lauren was presumed dead but the character made an explosive return just weeks ago, where she was revealed to be alive and she dropped the bombshell that she was pregnant with Joel’s baby. Lauren recently went into premature labour after being drugged by sick Joel, with her baby son in hospital. Joel is yet to be charged due to a lack of evidence and he continues to make Lauren’s life a misery, as well as ex Dee-Dee Bailey.

On Monday night’s episode, Joel threatened Lauren once again, claiming that he had instructed a solicitor and intended to apply for custody of their son Frankie. However, eagle-eyed soap watchers spotted an issue with Joel’s threat as they pointed out a possible twist involving the evil solicitor.

Taking to social media, one person pointed out: “Surely if Joel isn’t on the birth certificate, he wouldn’t have the right to have any access to the child.”

A different account wrote: “I think they will have a DNA and find out it’s not his child just my opinion” while another soap watcher speculated: “Sorry but Joel literally said it himself he’s already been barred from seeing one kid so in what possible world would he be granted custody of another? Especially when despite what he says he hasn’t proven Lauren to be unfit. If he had Social Services would be involved #Corrie.”

It comes as Joel actor Calum Lill warned viewers the worst is yet to come for his villainous character. Appearing on This Morning recently, the actor warned: “I think one thing we’ve seen with Joel is he’s very selfish, driven and seems to lack empathy so I think the worst is yet to come from Joel, he’s only going to get worse.”

Asked about more victims and whether Joel’s ex Dee-Dee is in trouble, actor Calum teased: “Who knows? I think it could even get worse than you think!”
