ITV Coronation Street fans ‘rumble shocking death for Simon Barlow’ in sinister Rowan twist

Coronation Street viewers think a tragic death storyline is on the way for Simon Barlow as he prepares to leave the ITV soap.

Alex Bain was confirmed to be departing his role on the show after 15 years, with his character said to have been written out. He’s set for a summer exit with it teased to be a huge storyline, while bosses have given nothing away.

His exit storyline was teased in new spoilers this week, with hints it could be linked to the ongoing cult plot with Rowan Cunliffe. There’s also hints Peter Barlow will give his son Simon an opportunity away from Weatherfield, while it remains to be seen how he will depart.

Now, some viewers are fearing a major twist following Simon’s stepmother Leanne Battersby being reeled in by fraud Rowan. Despite her loved ones urging her to open her eyes, Rowan has convinced her his ‘wellness institute’ works and is what she needs to help her deal with past trauma.

Leanne is set to flee the street in upcoming scenes for a retreat, where she will join others who have decided to find out what the institute has to offer. There will be others like Rowan working on vulnerable people, spreading their messages.

Next week, Leanne’s loved ones are worried as she remains at the retreat with no way of contacting her or finding her. Rowan refuses to help them reach out and instead, he targets Simon as the next person he wants to get onboard.

But ahead of Simon leaving the show, some fans believe Rowan has a sinister plan that could lead to a tragic death. One theory is that Rowan is brainwashing Leanne and will end up getting her to commit an unthinkable crime.

One viewer posted: “Rowan is gonna brainwash Leanne into killing Simon… I can see it coming a mile away, I feel sick.” Another viewer agreed with the theory and said: “Oh yeah cause Simon is leaving omg,” while a third viewer suggested Simon could end up being some sort of sacrifice at the cult after being targeted by Rowan.
