ITV Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ Joel’s true plan for Dee-Dee as Emily ‘not really his wife’

Coronation Street’s Joel Deering could be hiding another secret and his true intentions for Dee-Dee Bailey on the ITV soap.

Fans are convinced there’s more to a twist involving the newcomer following his lies unravelling in the latest episode. Dee-Dee was devastated when she found out what her new lover had been hiding from her for months.

Joel was forced to confess the truth after weeks of suspicious behaviour, with evidence suggesting he was playing away. But after meet-ups with a mystery woman named Emily, Joel finally told Dee-Dee the truth on Wednesday.

He dropped two major bombshells as he confirmed he was secretly married, and also had a baby daughter. Emily is his wife, while the pair are said to be estranged and planning to divorce.

He claimed they split 18 months ago, and that his little girl was a year old. He told Dee-Dee things were not working out for him and his wife prior to their split, but when she fell pregnant they tried again.

Joel was then forced to reveal he’d cheated on Emily while she was pregnant with his child, resulting in her kicking him out. Now, 18 months on and Emily is back in his life with his lies exposed to Dee-Dee.

But viewers think he is still lying and his actual secret has not been revealed. Some fans think he’s not being truthful about his split and maybe is still with Emily or was at least with her more recently than 18 months ago.

Not only that, but some fans are convinced he’s secretly plotting against lawyer Dee-Dee for some reason, possibly linked to the business, and that Emily might not even be his wife after all. Taking to X, one viewer said: “Don’t believe a word out of the liar’s mouth Dee Dee.”

A second theorised: “Only got Joel’s word that he & his wife have been split up for 18 months, so i’d take that with a pinch of salt if I was Dee Dee.” Another wrote: “Why do I think that isn’t Joel’s wife but is his business partner and they trying to get inside knowledge of the law firm where Dee Dee works and he is using her.”

Other viewers warned Dee-Dee with one commenting: “I’ve crossed paths with a few Joel’s, they never end well.” Another said: “Dee-Dee, please, you can do so much better sweetheart!”
