ITV Coronation Street Joel Deering revenge ‘confirmed’ after bombshell discovery

Dee-Dee got a nasty shock this Monday in Corrie as she was told that Joel Deering had taken his own life. But a huge discovery convinced her there was more to the story.

Has Joel Deering really left the cobbles?

Joel Deering has officially gone on the run according to a huge discovery aired during this Monday’s trip down Coronation Street (September 30, 2024).

The solicitor portrayed by Channique Sterling-Brown was startled to find a voice message from her ex-fiancé on her phone but her surprise turned to shock when DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) suggested it could have been his last goodbye.

In later scenes of the ITV soap, Joel’s abandoned car, found in the middle of nowhere with a suicide note, was enough for Lisa and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to confirm that the villain had most likely died – but Dee-Dee knew something was amiss.

Leaving no stone unturned, Dee-Dee went to the location where Joel’s car was left at and asked Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) for guidance as she began to scour the area nearby.

Lauren, who remained in the hospital with her son Frankie, has recently told Dee-Dee that a tracker on Joel’s phone had located him in an unknown location, which prompted the solicitor to check the log of Joel’s past locations. However, a car covered by a cap soon caught her attention and it wasn’t long before she put two and two together, realising that the vehicle was most probably Joel’s getaway car. Later on, this appeared to be confirmed when Kit Green told Lisa Swain that the car had been sold to someone matching Joel’s description.

Joel (played by Calum Lill) was last spotted on the cobbles on Friday, delivering a series of chilling scenes as he appeared to mourn for his engagement with Dee-Dee, before regaining his composure when alone. As Friday’s instalment of the Manchester-based drama drew to a close, Joel was seemingly breaking down in tears in his car as he left Dee-Dee a voicemail to apologise for his vile deeds, claiming to know there was no way back. But again, as soon as he hung up the phone, Joel’s cool composure was intact as he showed off a nasty cut on his left cheek in a sinister twist.

Calum Lill was announced to be on his way out of Weatherfield during the summer. The former Hollyoaks actor joined the ITV soap last year as the duty solicitor and a new love interest for Dee-Dee Bailey and while he made a good impression on the fan favourite, viewers were immediately suspicious of him.

In recent months, it was then revealed that soap fans were right to doubt him as he was the cause of Lauren Bolton’s disappearance, tormenting the cash-strapped teen and fathering her new-born son. It has now been confirmed that the storyline will culminate in Joel’s exit from Weatherfield as the actor has quit the long-running show.

“Calum has made a huge impact as Joel over the last year but he always knew it would be for a fixed term”, a source told The Sun. Calum’s last scenes in the Manchester-based programme are due to air in the coming months as the insider continued: “He’s been great playing Joel but all good soap villains must get their comeuppance and Joel’s is coming very soon.” But has he gone on the run never to be heard from again?
