ITV Coronation Street Joel’s telling comment which ‘proves’ he killed Lauren Bolton

Joel Deering has been one of the suspects for Lauren Bolton's disappearance and murder on Coronation Street - but could he have just given the game away?

Joel Deering has been ‘exposed’ as Lauren Bolton’s murderer – after a surprise comment tonight on Coronation Street.

The third episode of the ITV soap aired tonight, as the same day – from a different point of view – played out. Whilst Sarah Platt was trying to frame Nathan for Lauren’s murder in a bid to keep him from her daughter Bethany, and Carla Connor was busy trying to support DS Swain – who was struggling with some personal problems – and Bobby found himself arrested for perverting the course of justice and was hauled into be interviewed by DS Swain and the team.

Joel has been one of the main suspects, and a telling comment tonight will no doubt leave fans suspicious about what he might be hiding – and whether he could be Lauren Bolton’s mystery boyfriend and the man who attacked and potentially killed her.

When Dee-Dee learned that Bobby had been arrested – and thus that meant that a potential reason for Roy Cropper to be released was now unlikely – Joel said to Dee-Dee “does this mean what I think it does”. Whilst his comment could be about Roy now facing a potential sentence, could this actually hint that he is the murderer and responsible for Lauren’s death?

Fans have long been suspicious about Joel’s motives and potential connection to Lauren after a ‘throwaway’ scene several weeks ago. They found a receipt for expensive jewellery – which Joel said was a pair of cufflinks – but could it be the mysterious necklace Lauren got from her boyfriend before she died? Does this prove Joel is her secret boyfriend?

At the time, one fan said on Twitter as the scene aired: “No one spends £300 on cufflinks.” Another added: “£300 on cufflinks?” whilst a third shared: “Diamond cuff links for £300, you’ll be lucky.” Another wondered why Joel had so much money to spare – but was working at a small solicitors. They wrote: “Why is Joel hanging around back street solicitors when he can drop £300 on cufflinks?” So could there be an ulterior motive to him being in Weatherfield after all?
