Coronation Street spoilers for next week confirm two familiar faces are back on the street

Coronation Street fans will see two characters make their big returns next week on the ITV soap, including one fan favourite who made an initial comeback just weeks ago.

One of them may have new information about missing Lauren Bolton who is presumed dead, as the storyline continues next week. There’s a reconstruction being filmed, showing her last known movements – just as Roy Cropper continues to be kept in a cell, accused of her murder.

Daniel Osbourne confirms his pal Nicky Wheatley has been in touch, after he asked her to find out if anyone has heard from Lauren amongst people she is connected with. Former sex worker Nicky agreed to spread the word, after articles suggested Lauren was involved in sex work.

Nicky has kept to her word, and next week she lets Daniel know what she’s uncovered. Daniel tells his father Ken Barlow she may have news and sets off to see her.

Ken warns him to be careful, especially as their last meeting led to the police questioning him over Lauren. Later in the week, Nicky calls round and reveals that she’s off to meet a girl called Ellie who was groomed as a teenager and might have information about Lauren.

But what will Nicky find out, and will we get closer to the truth about Lauren’s disappearance? Also returning next week is villain Nathan Curtis, who groomed and abused Bethany Platt seven years ago.

Bethany is left shaken when she notices a man that resembles Nathan in the crowd as the reconstruction is filmed. She soon finds out that Nathan – who she thought was still in jail – was released from prison quite a while ago and is now working on a building site nearby.

Speaking about his return to the show, Chris Harper said: “I was emotional when I was told about Nathan’s potential return. During the 18 months he was in it before, hundreds of people shared with me how the storyline reflected something they, or someone they loved, had lived through. It remains important to keep them in mind as we continue Bethany’s story.

“Once again, I am grateful for the ongoing support of Barnardo’s, NSPCC, S.H.E.UK, and all the people who trusted me last time. We have another chance to raise an issue that affects so many lives, so often shrouded in shame.”

Chris also teased there would be some huge twists in Nathan’s new storyline. He added: “I do love playing Nathan though. He is funny, deceitful, slippery, manipulative and ruthless. Now he is also under a lot of pressure too. This new storyline is absolutely full of twists.

“It really is good to be back on the hallowed cobbles. So much has happened since we saw Nathan sent to prison, but Coronation Street is a constant. I feel like the cast, crew and the whole team are old friends.”
