Coronation Street icon Roy Cropper's fate has been 'confirmed' as This Morning soap expert, Sharon Marshall, dropped a clue on Wednesday's show

Coronation Street icon Roy Cropper's fate has appeared to have been confirmed

Coronation Street icon Roy Cropper’s fate appears to have been confirmed.

Only recently, Roy has found himself arrested, charged and the number one suspect for the supposed murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton. Soap fans will recall that troubled youngster Lauren abruptly left the cobbles earlier this year and her friend Bobby has been left concerned after he found her flat unlocked with Lauren nowhere to be seen.

Viewers never saw Lauren leave and it seems she told no one close to her of her plan to leave Weatherfield aside from Roy. Bobby reported Lauren as missing to the police and Roy has found himself under suspicion due to his kind nature, especially after he was caught innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, which some people thought proved he was guilty and internet sleuths have since made his life a misery with a barrage of online abuse.

On Tuesday’s This Morning, soap expert Sharon Marshall aired a pre-recorded interview with Roy actor David Neilson, who had a five-word response over his character’s current storyline. During the interview, something noticeable appeared to tease Roy’s fate as actor David, 75, sported facial hair with stubble around his chin and cheeks. Roy has never had a beard on the show with many questioning whether this was a hint that Roy has left the show or a hint at his prison storyline?

Appearing on Wednesday’s This Morning, soap expert Sharon, 52, confirmed that David sporting facial hair was indeed a clue. Host Ben Shephard said: “Now, should we read anything into the fact when you chatted to him, he had a beard, is that a clue as to what’s going on?”

To which Sharon revealed: “It is, it is! That was a Roy beard rather than a David one, so that might be a clue for how long he’s behind bars… so… we can take a little guess on that, looking at that goatee, a good six weeks?” It comes as David said during Tuesday’s interview of Roy’s predicament: “He’s his own worse enemy!”

David added: “I mean, he needs support from himself, he puts himself there. I’m amazed that I [Roy] haven’t been in prison before because everyone else [Coronation Street characters] have!” It comes as Roy could find himself “tricked into confessing” to Lauren’s murder in a sick twist next week.
