ITV Coronation Street sign up Hollyoaks star as Lauren Bolton’s mystery kidnapper’s identity ‘sealed’

Coronation Street have reportedly signed up a former Hollyoaks star for a new role amid a twist for Lauren Bolton.

Lauren went missing back in February, with Roy Cropper being framed for the disappearance and potential murder. Roy is currently in prison where he has been charged with the murder of Lauren, who police are convinced was attacked after they found an extensive amount of blood in the flat, with DS Swain insisting she had been hit on the head by a chair leg.

As part of the ongoing storyline, former Hollyoaks star Jacob Roberts – who is best known for playing Damon Kinsella on the Channel 4 soap until 2023 – has reportedly signed up for a new role on Coronation Street.

The character’s identity has not yet been revealed but it has been teased that he will have lots of scenes with Lauren as well as DS Swain and Craig Tinker, so could this mean that he is Lauren’s real attacker?

“Corrie bosses were really impressed with Jacob in his audition and he landed the part straight away,” a source told The Sun, “He’s getting along really well with the cast, and will make quite the impact with viewers when he hits screens in a few weeks.”

Last week, Lauren appeared in a vision to Roy as he struggled in prison. Roy was denied bail after being charged with Lauren’s murder but he is innocent and someone else attacked and potentially killed her.

Before she went missing, Cait warned that Lauren was in real trouble. She shared exclusively with The Mirror: “There’s a lot of danger there. She’s a vulnerable 18 year-old-girl so she’s bound to make mistakes, but she’s still young. It’s a shock for Lauren because she blurts out [her secret] to Max, but Sabrina as well, and she’s not that close to Sabrina so it’s quite complicated.

“Even though she can’t accept it herself she’s expecting other people to, which is interesting to play but there will be a lot of danger ahead. I can’t reveal too much but it’s a very exciting storyline. Corrie always do an amazing job smashing all their serious storylines, so all I can say is stay tuned. Lauren lacks a lot of self-confidence and self-love, which is why she’s doing a lot of what she’s doing. Things didn’t work out with Max, she lives next to Sabrina, there’s still that barrier up between them.”
