ITV Coronation Street ‘solve’ true identity of Rowan’s ex-wife and her sinister plan

Coronation Street viewers believe Rowan Cunliffe’s ex-wife Una could be an impostor, and might be shielding her true identity and plan.

The character debuted, possibly as a one off appearance, during Wednesday night’s episode where she met with Toyah Battersby. Toyah is out to expose fraud Rowan, believing his wellness institute to be a sham.

Toyah’s sister Leanne Battersby has been reeled in by mentor Rowan and his techniques, which he claims will help her deal with her trauma. After sending money his way, Leanne has continued to meet with Rowan and will now head off on a retreat to meet others.

Despite Toyah being keen to prove to Leanne that Rowan is not to be trusted, she’s failed to stop her sister from seeing sense. Toyah started snooping in a recent episode for dirt on Rowan, and seemingly found online posts from ex members of the institute saying it is not to be trusted.

The posts were abruptly removed, and Rowan claimed his bitter ex was behind the fake messages. So Toyah set out to meet his ex-wife Una, hoping to get to the bottom of it all.

She wasn’t expecting what she heard though, as Una seemed surprised that Toyah wanted to bring Rowan down. Una claimed Rowan was “honest” and “good”, saying there was nothing to be scared of about her husband or the institute.

Toyah initially believed she felt threatened, before suggesting she had been brainwashed. Una told her she had “the upmost love and respect” for her ex, refusing to speak badly about him or his venture.

Viewers tuning into the scenes were left convinced she might be working with Rowan to con people, with some wondering if she was even his ex-wife. While some believed she might have been brainwashed like Leanne, others questioned if she had a secret identity and was simply posing as his ex to help him.

One fan posted online: “I don’t think that woman is Rowans ex I think she’s his girlfriend still and in on his conning ways.” Another agreed: “Thought Rowan’s wife hated him? What’s this 180 degree turn? Weird,” while a third fan said: “So Rowan’s ex has also been brainwashed by Rowan too.”
