Coronation Street is lining up all kinds of drama next week with a number of big plots on the ITV soap.
Rowan Cunliffe makes his next move, eyeing up his next target for his cult following Leanne Battersby leaving for the institute. Elsewhere, Bernie Winter finally discovers the truth about her long-lost son Christopher, who fans know is newcomer Kit.
Carla Connor makes a sad discovery, leaving her reeling. She’s not the only one learning something shocking, as Abi Franklin and Tyrone Dobbs make two separate alarming realisations.
There’s the return of a killer in one way or another, and also a second return for a former baddie. Here are the biggest moments unfolding on the soap next week…
Rowan’s next victim
Soap watchers will recall that mysterious newcomer Rowan has targeted Leanne Battersby with his “self-improvement group” The Institute. Rowan has also been pulling Leanne away from partner Nick Tilsley and even her sister Toyah Battersby during her time of need.
Rowan has been encouraging Leanne to open up about her past and the trauma she has faced, using his tools and guiding her to speak aloud about parts of her life. In a shock twist, Rowan was recently revealed to be recording everything Leanne was saying without her knowledge. Of course, viewers will recall that Toyah has been concerned for Leanne and extremely sceptical of Rowan – while this week Leanne will flee to see the institute in real life.
In the upcoming scenes, Simon is hungover and admits he remembers little about the previous day, leaving Nick and Toyah in despair as Leanne is missing. Later, Nick explains to Rowan how there was an incident involving Simon and he needs to speak to Leanne urgently but Rowan’s dismissive, which angers Nick. It’s not long until Rowan suggests to Simon they chat as he knows what it’s like to drift through life without direction… has he got a new target?

Coronation Street airs a bombshell discovery next week, as well as shocking news about a former villain on the ITV soap. Killer Corey Brent makes a comeback of sorts next week, three years on from his violent hate crime assault on Nina Lucas and her partner Seb Franklin. The harrowing storyline hit viewers hard, as it led to the death of Seb in tragic scenes.
Corey and his mates had targeted them because he took issue with Nina being a goth. The powerful storyline mirrored the real-life murder of Sophie Lancaster in 2007, with the ITV soap working closely with the foundation set up in her name.
Next week, following a discovery that leaves Kevin Webster “rattled”, there’s horror for his wife, Seb’s mother, Abi Franklin. Abi turns on the TV to hear a presenter singing the praises of Corey and his football skills.
Abi is left sickened as Kevin is forced to reveal that Corey is playing for his prison football team, and that it’s being filmed for a documentary. Corey is painted as a hero in the footage, leaving a distraught Abi incandescent.
Abi and Nina rally together and call at the TV company responsible for the documentary, barging their way into the Producer’s office demanding answers about what had been filmed. They question how killer Corey is allowed to feature, and the positive representation of him.
Soon it seems they speak to the Gazette website and soon they get some positive news. They take some comfort from the supportive comments from readers of the online article, and they’re pleased to see that a petition has been started demanding the documentary be scrapped.
Whether it will be binned remains to be seen, while it’s not thought Corey will be returning to the show after this point. That’s not the only drama ahead for Abi though as pal Tyrone Dobbs opens an email at the garage where they work, and he is horrified by its contents. He tells Abi he has some shocking news – but what has he found out?

In upcoming scenes, Carla is left rocked by a heartbreaking Peter Barlow twist following his departure last year while an exit storyline appears to be ‘confirmed’ for Simon Barlow as actor Alex Bain prepares to leave the cobbles after 15 years.
Spoilers for next week reveal the aftermath of drunken Simon bunking off work and throwing up in Tim Metcalfe’s taxi while doing a runner without paying. A hungover Simon wakes up following the incident and admits he remembers little about the previous day. Carla admits to Sarah that she misses Peter but when Simon shows her some pictures of the boat, Carla is utterly rocked to see one showing Peter with his arm around a woman in a heartbreaking twist.
Kit discovery shocks Bernie
Coronation Street spoilers reveal Bernie Winter makes a shocking discovery next week, as the truth about Kit Green’s identity is exposed. Bernie is left reeling as she finally finds her secret son, having unknowingly met him during Monday night’s episode. Viewers know that Bernie was searching for the child she gave away almost 30 years ago, with his name being Zodiac.
His name had been changed to Christopher Green, and so Bernie searched high and low for people with this name that matched the age her son would be. Despite Kit claiming he was not her son and she’d got the wrong Christopher, it soon became clear to viewers that he was lying.
Next week, spoilers reveal that as Bernie remains unaware of Kit’s true identity, she comes face-to-face with him once more. But this time she makes a shocking discovery that changes everything.
