Abi’s deepfake culprit ‘exposed’ as cobbles favourite faces prison

Only recently, someone has created deepfake porn videos of Abi using AI, and posted them online and on social media. Abi has no idea who has done it and why, but she knows someone is out to get her. For weeks fans have assumed her rival Cassie Plummer is to blame, amid her clear feelings for Abi’s husband Kevin Webster and jealously towards Abi. However, next week appears to expose the real culprit but have they got the right person?

In upcoming scenes, Bethany Platt lands a new job at a fancy magazine but dreads her first article as it’s a feature in support of killer Corey Brent, who murdered Abi’s son Seb Franklin. Feeling full of dread and guilt, Bethany calls at the garage to tell Abi the news, leaving the mechanic horrified.

Later in the week, Abi does some digging and realises that Stefan Brent is a board director of the production company that made the documentary about Corey last month, he also owns the magazine that wants a feature in support of Corey and she jumps to the conclusion that he must have created the deep fake videos out of revenge.

Having reported Stefan to the police, Abi and husband Kevin Webster watch as DS Swain drags him into an interview room, fervently hoping that their nightmare will soon be over. Later, Bethany calls at the garage and tells Abi that she’ll quit her job if it’s what she wants but it could be useful to have someone on the inside to keep tabs on Stefan. And it’s not long until Kevin calls on Bethany and tells her that if she really wants to help, she can lend him her security pass to Stefan’s offices to which she reluctantly hands it over.

Later in the week, things go from bad to worse when Abi asks Kevin about him getting up in the night to which he puts it down to stress but later calls into the salon with a stolen mobile phone and asks Max Turner if he can hack into it. When Tyrone Dobbs opens an email to find a video of Kevin breaking into Stefan’s office, Kevin assures him it is another deep fake video.

It’s not long until Bethany sees Max with the phone, realising that Kevin stole it and she tells him not to drag her family into the situation. Later, when Kevin turns up at Stefan’s office, the latter says his video footage of Kevin breaking and entering could land him in jail. Meanwhile, Abi is shocked when she overhears Tyrone telling PC Craig Tinker that Kevin has been the victim of a deep fake video and Kevin returns home to find the duo waiting – but will he report Stefan and is Stefan the real culprit?

Joel Deering’s next victim revealed after Lauren Bolton twist

Only recently, Joel was revealed to be Lauren Bolton’s killer in a huge twist last week. Roy Cropper had initially been wrongly arrested, charged and the number one suspect for the supposed murder of missing teenager Lauren. However, last week, DS Lisa Swain and newcomer Kit thought they had cracked the case as they arrested abuser Nathan Curtis, who previously made Bethany Platt’s life a living misery and was recently released from prison.

Coronation Street viewers are convinced that Joel Deering's downfall has been 'sealed' after several 'telling' clues on Wednesday

So far, Joel has managed to escape justice and the cobbles’ residents are oblivious to his evil ways.

In upcoming scenes, another character could be in danger as Joel chooses a new victim. In spoilers for next week, Joel spots Max’s on-off girlfriend Sabrina in a state of distress outside the police station and learns that her brother has been arrested. Joel hands her his business card and tells her to give him a call. As Sabrina’s friend joins her, Joel heads inside, clearly pleased to have found a new target. Will Sabrina or her friend be his next victim?

Nick Tilsley and Toyah Battersby affair exposed in blackmail twist

Soap watchers will recall that mysterious newcomer Rowan Cunliffe has targeted Leanne Battersby with his “self-improvement group” The Institute. Rowan has also been pulling Leanne away from partner Nick Tilsley and even her sister Toyah Battersby during her time of need.

Rowan has been encouraging Leanne to open up about her past and the trauma she has faced, using his tools and guiding her to speak aloud about parts of her life. In a shock twist, Rowan was recently revealed to be recording everything Leanne was saying without her knowledge. Of course, viewers will recall that Toyah has been concerned for Leanne and extremely sceptical of Rowan.

On Friday’s episode, it was revealed that Rowan and The Institute had created an AI version of Leanne’s late son Oliver, who tragically died in 2020 after a battle with mitochondrial disease. Toyah was horrified over the discovery as she confronted Rowan, threatening to report him to the police and press. Later in the episode, it appeared that Rowan had called the police on Toyah as she was arrested after Leanne told the cult leader her sibling’s secrets in confidence. This resulted in a hurt Toyah accusing her sister of betraying her.

Later, Toyah returns home to find Nick alone to which he apologises for Leanne’s behaviour and Toyah breaks down. It’s not long until Nick takes her in his arms and they kiss passionately, unaware that from the derelict builder’s yard, a man is watching them intently.

Having enjoyed an afternoon of passion, Nick and Toyah agree that it mustn’t happen again and they should stay out of each other’s way as much as possible. Later in the week, it appears they’ve been rumbled as Toyah tells Nick that they’ve little choice but to come clean to Leanne about their brief affair. Meanwhile, a smug Rowan is holding a meeting in the Bistro much to Nick and Toyah’s dismay. It’s not long until Rowan corners Toyah and hands her a copy of an NDA, suggesting she signs it.

When Toyah makes it clear she won’t be blackmailed and she intends to come clean, Rowan points out that it’ll destroy Leanne but he’ll be happy to pick up the pieces, leaving Toyah sickened. Later, Rowan makes a speech and announces that Leanne has been promoted to level five and he couldn’t be more proud of her to which the members clap. Nick and Toyah are disgusted over the news, will they tell Leanne the truth?
