Only recently, Bethany Platt has been left horrified as her past came back to haunt her after she spotted former abuser Nathan Curtis in Weatherfield. Soap fans will recall that Bethany was groomed by evil Nathan before reporting him and his gang to the police. The dark storyline concluded with Bethany facing Nathan and the others in court, with him sent to prison.

Bethany has seen red and accused Nathan, who was released months ago, of murdering missing teenager Lauren Bolton. This week, Bethany has been hellbent on trying to prove Nathan is involved in Lauren’s disappearance, even grilling PC Craig Tinker. On Wednesday night, Sarah confided in Gary that she was worried about Bethany as she’s become fixated on trying to pin Lauren’s murder on Nathan.

It wasn’t long until Bethany and partner Daniel Osbourne were confronted by Nathan, who accused Bethany of harassing his girlfriend and looking into his life. Over at the Rovers, David, Sarah and Gary discussed Nathan and agreed that something had to be done before he ruins Bethany’s life all over again.

Later, over at the building site Nathan works at, a hooded figure wearing all black and black shoes attacked Nathan, leaving him unconscious on the floor – it remains to be seen who the attacker is. Later in the episode, news of Nathan’s attack got out as a shifty David was seen doing some washing, where Sarah spotted blood on his jeans, which many viewers and Sarah thought proved he was behind the attack.

However, eagle-eyed soap watchers spotted a detail during the attack scene which ‘proves’ it’s not David. Taking to social media, viewers pointed out that the attacker was wearing black shoes while David typically wears brown boots. One person said: “I reckon Gary! David had different shoes on!”, another put: “It was Gary! He was one only one dressed in all black” and a different fan said: “I think Gary, David always has tan boots on.”

Elsewhere, a different soap watcher put: “Not David he had beige boots on and culprit had black boots think Gary myself”, a different account put: “Nathan’s attacker was wearing black shoes. David had brown boots on #Corrie” while another added: “It’s Gary bcos David always wears brown boots whereas Gary where’s black.”
