Coronation Street is set for dramatic scenes as Lauren Bolton’s disappearance leads to a fan favourite being arrested.

Only recently, troubled youngster Lauren abruptly left the cobbles and love interest Bobby has been left concerned after he found her flat unlocked with Lauren nowhere to be seen after her earlier claims that she was going to flee Weatherfield.

Soap fans never saw Lauren leave and it seems she told no one close to her of her plan aside Roy Cropper given she immediately vanished. In recent episodes, a concerned Bobby called at Lauren’s flat again to find no answer to which he headed to the police station to report her missing.

PC Craig Tinker promised to make some enquiries, which he later called at the café to investigate Lauren’s last known movements. Later, Bobby was left unconvinced as Roy explained how he caught Lauren going through Bethany’s bag and he had to let her go, revealing when he called round with her wages, she was talking about moving away to start a new life. In upcoming scenes, Bobby only gets more and more suspicious of Roy, especially when he catches him cleaning Lauren’s flat in a bid to help Evelyn Plummer.

Coronation Street will be welcoming back a familiar face in upcoming scenes, who is set to become a cobbles regular

It’s not long before DS Lisa Swain makes a return as she gets heavily involved in the case with the character, who has appeared on and off since 2021, set to become a cobbles regular. As DS Swain investigates Lauren’s disappearance suspecting she could have been murdered, fans will see the finger of suspicion fall upon both Daniel Osborne and Roy with the latter arrested on suspicion of the murder of Lauren.

Speaking to the Mirror, as well as other press, about returning for the big storyline, DS Lisa Swain actress Vicky Myers admitted she’s prepared herself for backlash over fan favourite Roy’s arrest. The soap star said of having to arrest Roy: “It was terrible, it was awful!

“When I read it in the script, I thought: ‘Oh no, this is just going to be awful!’ But because everyone is so supportive of each other here, it’s wonderful, but I think there might be a fair bit of backlash but that’s okay… I can handle it. Swain can handle it!” Talking about working with Roy star David Neilson, she added: “Working with David, is wow, what a human being! He is so generous and so warm and so considerate. His talent is beyond so to work with him so closely, it’s really been a joy and I’ve got so much respect for the man. He’s an icon in every sense.”

Asked if she’s ready for the backlash she’s going to receive for Roy’s arrest, the star admitted: “Yeah, definitely! Being in this iconic show, pretty much as soon as I started it was the hate crime storyline. The viewers knew it was Corey [Brent]. I was in my local shopping centre and somebody shouted a bit of abuse at me because I’d arrested the wrong person and obviously that had aired but we had shot it quite a few weeks before. I didn’t understand where it was coming from, but then it suddenly dawned on me what was going on.

“[Viewers] either love or loathe her [Swain]. Who knows, I’ll cope with it fairly well, I hope, time will tell!” Talking about if Swain would be nervous about arresting Roy, the star insisted: “No, because Swain isn’t nervous! I’m not going to lie, I was a little bit like: ‘Oh crikey!’… as far as she’s [Swain] concerned, she’s doing the right thing!’
