Coronation Street is lining up a new romance storyline for newly-single Steve McDonald next week.

Soap fans will recall that Steve’s estranged wife Tracy Barlow appeared to exit the cobbles earlier this month as she was seen saying her goodbyes to her relatives including dad Ken Barlow and daughter Amy Barlow. Having leaving drinks at The Rovers, she then hugged it out with her nearest and dearest and left the cobbles to start a new life with lover Tommy Orpington in Spain, seemingly for good.

It remains to be seen if and when Tracy returns but her exit, as well as explosive affair with Tommy, has left Steve utterly devastated. In recent episodes, Steve tried to get back into the dating game but it has been clear that he’s still in love with Tracy with the two briefly reuniting before her decision to leave with Tommy.

With Tracy now gone, Steve focuses on finding love next week as he joins a new dating app. It’s not long until a delighted Steve reveals he’s had three matches and later he shows Abi and Kevin Webster a picture of his potential date Maggie. Steve also shares the news with best pal Tim Metcalfe that Maggie has agreed to meet him for lunch in the Bistro.

Later in the week, it appears nervous Steve has another date lined up as he meets Carole in the Rovers. However, Steve is left stunned to discover that Carole has brought three friends along with her and it’s not long until one friend, Aurora, invites Tim to join them and refuses to take no for an answer. In true soap style, Sally then calls at the pub and spots Tim with a drunken woman, giggling like a school boy, how will she react?

It appears the date doesn’t go well as later in the week, a downbeat Steve tells his daughter Amy that he’s had enough of dating apps but quickly does a U-turn when he sees a message from Demi. Later, Steve prepares for his date as he excitedly tells Amy that he’s convinced that Demi is the one. It’s not long until Steve’s date approaches as he meets up with Demi in the Rovers and the duo instantly hit it off. Could Demi really be the one and will she agree to a second date?
