ITV Coronation Street villain Nathan’s link to Lauren ‘exposed’ after necklace twist

Coronation Street fans may have rumbled a clue that links returning villain Nathan Curtis to missing teen Lauren Bolton.

Amid viewers speculating he is linked to her apparent murder following the confirmation he was heading back to Weatherfield, a new scene may have teased what proves this link. Nathan hasn’t been on the show since 2017, after he was imprisoned for his part in a child sex grooming gang.

Nathan groomed and raped Bethany Platt when she was a teenager, before exploiting her and trying to sell her into sex work abroad. It’s this past on the soap that first left fans convinced Nathan may be out of prison, and might be linked to Lauren going missing and possibly killed.

Lauren has not been seen or heard from since February when she vanished, with blood and traces of human tissue, along with a weapon, found at her flat. Police detectives think she is dead and Roy Cropper has been charged with the murder, despite no real evidence and no body being found.

But some possible evidence that came to light and the mystery surrounding a necklace Lauren was given before she vanished has sparked new theories. Viewers have questioned whether the necklace was given to her by the person who kidnapped or killed her, while Lauren had suggested her mystery boyfriend was the person who bought it.

Amid speculation Joel Deering is that boyfriend and might have harmed Lauren, some fans have recalled a scene from years ago on the soap that might reveal a different suspect. If correct, this scene could prove that Nathan is the person who was harassing Lauren, and is likely behind her disappearance.

Given the significance of this necklace that was given to Lauren just before she vanished and around the time she was being harassed, fans recalled Nathan would give necklaces to the teens he and other men had groomed. Bethany received a necklace from Nathan which she believed to be important, while she soon learned from another victim that Nathan gave them to all of the girls who were groomed like them.

The fact that Lauren has now been gifted a necklace amid fears she was involved in sex work, and this necklace is now a key part of the storyline, might this be a major clue that Nathan, known to give his victims necklaces, might be the mystery ex and the man who knows where Lauren is? Taking to social media, one fan suggested: ” The same necklace Lauren has, didn’t Bethany have a one similar off Nathan??” as another agreed: “I was thinking the same.”
