ITV Coronation Street villain returns after one year — and it’s bad news for Roy Cropper

Coronation Street is set for chilling scenes next week when one villain returns after one year.

Only recently, Roy Cropper has found himself arrested, charged and the number one suspect for the supposed murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton. Soap fans will recall that troubled youngster Lauren abruptly left the cobbles earlier this year and her friend Bobby has been left concerned after he found her flat unlocked with Lauren nowhere to be seen.

Viewers never saw Lauren leave and it seems she told no one close to her of her plan to leave Weatherfield aside from Roy. Bobby reported Lauren as missing to the police and Roy has found himself under suspicion due to his kind nature, especially after he was caught innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, which some people thought proved he was guilty and internet sleuths have since made his life a misery with a barrage of online abuse.

Before he was charged and put in prison, Roy was held hostage at his café as two dodgy men interrogated him. It was soon revealed that the dodgy men were in fact friends with Lauren’s dad Reece and they demanded that Roy tell them what he has done with Lauren. Thankfully Roy, who kept repeating he was innocent, was rescued in time by Nick Tilsley and Carla Connor, who sent the thugs packing before reporting it to the police.

However, Roy has got more worries ahead next week as spoilers reveal that Griff returns to the ITV soap after one year as he’s transferred back to Weatherfield nick. With Griff being friends with Lauren’s dad, will he try and get revenge on Roy despite the latter being innocent?

Soap fans will remember that Lauren first arrived in Weatherfield in 2022 after helping to recruit Max Turner to an extremist far right gang, ran by the evil Griff. Max was initially interested in Lauren, but things soon fizzled out between the pair when the truth about the group’s plans were revealed. Her dad Reece was one of the leaders of the group and she had been dragged into the whole thing alongside Max. Since then, Lauren had tried to turn her life around before her disappearance while Reece and Griff were put in prison.
