Coronation Street fans were left suspicious on Monday night after spotting a “dodgy” newcomer.

Only recently, Roy Cropper was wrongly arrested on Friday night on suspicion of murdering his former employee Lauren Bolton. Soap fans will recall that troubled youngster Lauren abruptly left the cobbles earlier this year and love interest Bobby has been left concerned after he found her flat unlocked with Lauren nowhere to be seen.

Soap fans never saw Lauren leave and it seems she told no one close to her of her plan to leave Weatherfield aside from Roy given she immediately vanished. Bobby reported Lauren as missing to the police and Roy has found himself under suspicion due to his kind nature, especially after he was caught innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, which some people thought proved he was guilty.

On Monday night, the hit ITV soap offered more updates about Lauren as Max Turner overheard David and Shona Platt speculating whether Lauren’s dad’s far right group could be involved in her disappearance. Viewers will recall that Lauren first arrived in Weatherfield in 2022 after helping to recruit Max to an extremist far right gang.

Max was initially interested in Lauren, but things soon fizzled out between the pair when the truth about the group’s plans were revealed. Her dad was one of the leaders of the group and she had been dragged into the whole thing alongside Max. Since then, Lauren had tried to turn her life around before her disappearance.

Later on Monday’s episode, Max decided to secretly pay Lauren’s dad Reece a visit in prison, where he grilled him about his daughter’s whereabouts and accidentally let slip that Roy had been wrongly suspected of Lauren’s murder. This resulted in Roy being held hostage at his café as two dodgy men interrogated him.

It was soon revealed that the dodgy men were in fact friends with Lauren’s dad Reece and they demanded that Roy tell them what he has done with Lauren. Thankfully Roy, who kept repeating he was innocent, was rescued in time by Nick Tilsley and Carla Connor, who sent the thugs packing. Later, Carla accompanied Roy to the police station, where they gave a statement.

However, eagle-eyed fans were left suspicious during the scenes as they spotted a mystery person recording Roy in the café and he was later seen taking photos of him at the police station. Taking to social media, viewers were quick to predict who he could be and even speculated he could be linked to Lauren.

One person said: “I’m wondering if that guy who was recording Roy in the cafe and police station is Lauren’s boyfriend or has something to do with it” to which a different account replied: “He was a bit odd and what was he doing on the police station?” while another added: “Trying to set Roy up!”

Elsewhere, one person said: “@itvcorrie #corrie #coronationstreet Dodgy looking man in Roy’s Rolls is either an undercover policeman or issomething to do with Lauren’s disappearance?” while another added: “Is this Lauren’s mystery man #Corrie.”
