ITV Coronation Street’s evil Nathan Curtis to return in huge Lauren twist as teenager’s fate ‘revealed’

Coronation Street have teased an update in the Lauren Bolton storyline as evil abuser Nathan Curtis, who targeted Bethany Platt, makes a return to the Cobbles

Coronation Street have confirmed a return for evil abuser Nathan Curtis.

With the whole of Weatherfield still reeling over the disappearance and possible death of Lauren Bolton, the residents have been desperate to get Roy Cropper out of jail as he is innocent of the crime. However, Bethany Platt will be left reeling next week when she spots Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) – who abused her – in the crowd at a reconstruction of Lauren’s last movements.

The police decide they need to do a reconstruction of the last known movements of the teenager in the hope of jogging the memories of the residents and hopefully finding out who kidnapped or killed Lauren, but Bethany is left shaken when she notices a man that resembles Nathan in the crowd as the reconstruction is filmed.

She soon finds out that Nathan – who she thought was still in jail – was released from prison quite a while ago and is now working on a building site nearby. Knowing his past, and what he did to her, Bethany is convinced Nathan could be behind Lauren’s ‘death’.

Nathan is back but is he hiding anything about Lauren?

Bethany is adamant she wants to bring down the man who abducted and potentially killed Lauren, and she is forced to confront her own demons in her determination to bring the man responsible for Lauren’s ‘death’ to justice. However, is she right on suspecting it was Nathan – or is she completely off the mark and is the real person still getting away with ‘murder’?

Speaking about his return to the show, Chris Harper said: “I was emotional when I was told about Nathan’s potential return. During the 18 months he was in it before, hundreds of people shared with me how the storyline reflected something they, or someone they loved, had lived through. It remains important to keep them in mind as we continue Bethany’s story.

“Once again, I am grateful for the ongoing support of Barnardo’s, NSPCC, S.H.E.UK, and all the people who trusted me last time. We have another chance to raise an issue that affects so many lives, so often shrouded in shame.”

Chris also teased there would be some huge twists in Nathan’s new storyline. He added: “I do love playing Nathan though. He is funny, deceitful, slippery, manipulative and ruthless. Now he is also under a lot of pressure too. This new storyline is absolutely full of twists.

“It really is good to be back on the hallowed cobbles. So much has happened since we saw Nathan sent to prison, but Coronation Street is a constant. I feel like the cast, crew and the whole team are old friends.”
