Coronation Street actor Jude Riordan shared a tear-jerking ‘final goodbye’ on social media after losing his great-grandmother.
Last month, the 12-year-old star – known for his role as Sam Blakeman in the long-running soap – announced his great-grandmother Sheila passed away. At the time, she shared an illustration as well as a picture of her smiling at the camera. He said: “Yesterday my Great Gran (MA) passed away.
“I will miss her forever. I was ‘made’ for MA but that’s a story for another day. MA is the reason older people are my favourites. [heartbroken emoji] Rest in peace Sheila Bolton.” On January 31, he took to his Instagram Stories to post an illustration of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.
The illustration also had the words: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” Jude added: “Today we say a final goodbye to Ma.” He also posted a throwback picture of him and his great-grandma cuddling up with each other on the sofa.
Jude’s Instagram is run and managed by his parents. On New Year’s Day, he entered 2024 on a bittersweet note. On his Instagram Stories, he wrote: “New Year’s wishes are lovingly sent to the HEAVENS above to where YOU went… Grateful for another amazing year but never thought I’d end it without Ma [broken heart emoji].
“Lots of love to everyone missing loved ones. We have to live a full life with them watching over us,” before adding a face holding back tears emoji.” When Jude first announced the passing of his beloved great-grandmother, fans rushed to the comment section to pay their condolences.
One user said: “So sorry to hear your great gran has sadly passed away, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time, may she rest in peace,” while another posted: “So sorry for your loss. Your Nan is now a beautiful, bright star in the sky looking down on you.”
“Condolences on losing your gran, she’ll always be so proud of you,” one follower said and another added: “I’m so sorry to hear this, love to you and your family.” After reading some of the comments, Jude took to the comment section to thank fans for their support.
He said: “Thank you all so much for your lovely posts. We have all read them and appreciate them. Ma was a special lady and how lucky was I to still have a Great Gran at 12!”
