ITV Coronation Street’s Leanne Battersby star issues statement to co-star amid on-screen betrayal
Coronation Street star Jane Danson issued a sweet message to her co-star Georgia Taylor on Wednesday amid an on-screen betrayal.
Soap fans will recall that the two actresses play sisters Leanne and Toyah Battersby. However, earlier this week, Leanne was left devastated to learn her sibling had been having an affair with her partner Nick Tilsley.
Earlier this year, Leanne was recruited by Rowan Cunliffe for his cult The Institute, where he has isolated Leanne from her sister Toyah and partner Nick. As a result, this brought Nick and Toyah closer amid the latter’s cancer battle as they embarked on an affair.
As Nick and Toyah threatened to expose The Institute, Rowan paid for a PI to take incriminating images of their affair, which he used to blackmail the duo. On Wednesday’s episode, after becoming suspicious of Rowan due to his behaviour towards Amy Barlow, who invested £40,000 into The Institute without realising it was a scam, Leanne decided to go on his laptop while his back was turned.
In a harrowing twist, Leanne came across a file named Leanne and one named Nick and Toyah, where she discovered their affair pictures before confronting the duo. Taking to Instagram after the scenes aired, Leanne star Jane posted a sweet snap with co-star Georgia, who plays Toyah. She penned: “We love eachother really @realgeorgiataylor Our Lee andToyah forever” with a heart emoji.

Rowan star Emrhys Cooper commented on the post with a string of heart emojis. Tracy Barlow star Kate Ford wrote: “Gorgeous ladies x” with hearts.
Shona Platt star Julia Goulding commented: “Oh my god! Two of the most beautiful, talented and incredible women I’ve ever had the pleasure to know!! (Still in awe I get to work with you both) #battersbysfanforever” while Catherine Tyldesley, who used to play Eva Price, added: “My beautiful sisters amazing work as always xx.”
Jane has played legendary character Leanne since 1997 on Coronation Street while Georgia has also played Toyah since 1997 on the hit ITV soap. The two characters have had their fair share of explosive storylines over the years.
