Coronation Street’s Roy Cropper could find himself “tricked into confessing” to Lauren Bolton’s murder in a sick twist next week.

Only recently, Roy has found himself arrested, charged and number one suspect for the supposed murder of missing teenager Lauren. Soap fans will recall that troubled youngster Lauren abruptly left the cobbles earlier this year and love interest Bobby has been left concerned after he found her flat unlocked with Lauren nowhere to be seen.

Viewers never saw Lauren leave and it seems she told no one close to her of her plan to leave Weatherfield aside from Roy given she immediately vanished. Bobby reported Lauren as missing to the police and Roy has found himself under suspicion due to his kind nature, especially after he was caught innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, which some people thought proved he was guilty and he was disposing of evidence.

On Friday night, Roy found himself charged with the murder of missing teenager Lauren and things are only going to get worse for him. In upcoming scenes, Sam Blakeman promises Nina Lucas that he will walk Freddie the dog before school.

As Sam heads out, unbeknown to him, a sleuth watches from a table in the corner and later a distraught Sam returns without Freddie, explaining he ran off. As Evelyn Plummer watches over the café, Nina and Toyah Battersby head out to look for Freddie.

Back at the café, Nina, Asha and Evelyn watch a video uploaded by the Internet sleuths terrorising Roy, showing that they’ve taken Freddie hostage and to secure his safe return, Roy must confess to Lauren’s murder in a sick twist.

Later in the week, Asha confides in Aadi that she’s had a response from the troll behind the video and she’s arranged to meet him in the precinct as Aadi offers to go with her as back up. Meanwhile, Evelyn calls at the café with some “missing Freddie” posters and a birthday card for Nina.

As part of Nina’s birthday, Roy phones the café to wish Nina a happy birthday and Nina makes out that Freddie is fine and assures him that Dee-Dee is doing everything to secure his release. Later, Asha arrives at the precinct but there’s no sign of Aadi as he’s had to help Amy and he fails to notice Asha’s missed calls. It’s not long until TrueMan67 and his sidekick, Banditman, reveal themselves and start asking awkward questions to a scared Asha. Is Asha in danger and where’s Freddie?

Later in the week, Roy confides in the prison officer that new evidence has come to light and he’s hopeful he might be released. Meanwhile, in the court, Dee-Dee makes the case for Roy’s bail application and describes how Bobby saw a man leaving Lauren’s flat who didn’t fit Roy’s description.

However, despite the witness statement, the judge refuses Roy’s bail application. Later, Dee-Dee visits Roy in his cell and tells him not to give up hope and that the police are planning a reconstruction. Later, Roy calls Carla from prison and asks her to come and see him as he needs to talk to her about Bobby’s statement. Has Roy caught onto Bobby’s lie?
