ITV Coronation Street’s Tracy Barlow return sealed after exit: Tommy heartbreak to spoiler clue

Coronation Street’s Tracy Barlow could make an abrupt return to the ITV soap following her shock exit this week.

While no confirmation has been given by the show or the actress as to whether her recent departure is temporary or permanent, many fans are convinced she can’t have left the show for good. Kate Ford appeared to bow out of the role this week after joining the show in 2002.

Tracy as a character has been on the show for 47 years, and was born 1977. She’s been involved in some huge storylines from murdering her cheating partner Charlie Stubbs to the paternity of her daughter Amy Barlow sparking drama.

But in recent scenes she cheated on partner Steve McDonald with footballer Tommy Orpington, before dumping Steve for good. In a recent episode she said her goodbyes before fleeing Weatherfield with Tommy, to start a new life in Spain.

Whether she will return remains to be seen with spoilers giving nothing away, despite fans being sure she will be back. But as we wait for news, we thought we’d consider all the ways viewers could see Tracy make a comeback after her abrupt exit.

Perhaps Tracy’s romance with Tommy will not be what she thought it would be. After all they gave into lust and then split soon after, before reuniting.

Perhaps Tracy’s feelings for Tommy just aren’t as strong as she claims them to be. Or maybe Tommy only agreed to give things a go with Tracy without actually thinking ahead.

A number of viewers could not see the characters together and didn’t see them as a match to begin with, so perhaps there’s heartbreak ahead for the pair. Then there’s the fact her exit came so abruptly, with no confirmation from the ITV soap or actress Kate.

Surely if Kate and Tracy were actually leaving there’d have been a huge goodbye message, given she’s been on the show for decades. There’s been no hints of an exit other than the spoilers and the scenes themself, so might this all be a clue that Tracy will return?

Another thing that could lead to Tracy’s comeback is some sad news regarding the Barlows, or perhaps Amy will need her mum. The Barlows tend to rally round each other during tough times, so might something happen to Ken or Amy or even Steve, resulting in her return?

Then there’s the possibility that Tracy has made a huge mistake, and Steve’s hopes for a reunion could end up happening. Perhaps life on the Cobbles with Amy’s father is actually what Tracy wants, leading to her heading back home and giving their marriage another go. Viewers will just have to wait and see!
