Jenny’s secret from Daisy is exposed in Coronation Street and more conflict looms
Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) can’t do right for doing wrong on Coronation Street at the moment.
Her decision to tell Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) that he was the father of Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan)’s baby led to a hugely complicated situation for Daisy, who knew that it was Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) who was the father.
Daisy subsequently lost the baby when she was hit by a car that was aiming for David Platt (Jack P Shepherd). In the aftermath of this she really needed Jenny’s support but was wary of trusting her.
Jenny made things worse by making a pass at Kit, and it took a lot to convince Daisy to give their friendship another chance as Daisy didn’t think she could trust her step-mum Jenny any longer.
This fragile peace has lasted for a while, but Jenny is about to ruin things once again. This time it’s money issues that are set to lead to conflict between them.
Daisy and Jenny both owe Carla Connor (Alison King) a lot of money, after they took money that had been stolen from Carla by Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) and used it to buy the Rovers.
Carla found out about this and insisted on the money being paid back, and this has acquired more urgency now that she needs the cash following her private kidney transplant operation.
So Daisy is worrying about money and how they’re going to pay Carla back. What she doesn’t know is that Jenny has recently come into a windfall, from an investment that Daisy’s dad made in Jenny’s name years ago.
This comes to light when Jenny gives Rita (Barbara Knox) a spa voucher as a treat and tells her that she’s expecting a payout of £60,000.
Jenny seems determined to keep quiet about this cash, even though she can see that Daisy is stressing about repaying Carla.
To assuage her guilt, Jenny has the nerve to offer Daisy the spa voucher that she’d previously offered to Rita, telling her that she bought it to cheer her up.
Daisy’s touched by the gesture, but Jenny can’t help but feel guilty, as well she might.
And when Daisy finds out that Jenny has been keeping this huge secret from her, there are bound to be more fireworks – and this time the rift between Daisy and Jenny could be permanent.
