Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment) was feeling very buoyant in tonight’s Coronation Street as he tried to recruit members to his new singles club.

The Corrie favourite ended up having his head bitten off by a narky Carla Connor (Alison King) when he so much as suggested the idea to her, but had much better luck with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).

In the cafe, Ryan apologised for suggesting he ask Carla, but it was clear that Kirk had taken the knockback in his stride.

It was then that they were approached by DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), who soon found herself in an awkward position when Kirk asked if she was single.

Taken aback, she asked if he was asking her on a date, to which Kirk clarified that he was recruiting for his singles club.

However, he made it clear that he would be willing to go for a drink with her – an idea that Lisa very quickly shut down.

Hilariously, Kirk was relieved by her rejection, pointing out that he wouldn’t be able to run the singles club if they were dating.

Viewers will know that Kirk is a far cry from lesbian icon Lisa’s type, but she may soon be ineligible to join his singles club, as someone else catches her eye.

In upcoming scenes, Lisa is set to share a charged moment with none other than soap stalwart Carla, which will leave the factory boss questioning her feelings.

‘Lisa is there for her, she’s leaning on Lisa for the first time and it’s becoming quite a confusing friendship,’ actress Alison King revealed.

‘Lisa keeps appearing, she’s always there because of that link through Betsy, and there’s a bond growing between them that Carla can’t quite define.’

Are things set to get serious between Lisa and Carla, or will they both end up joining Kirk’s singles club?
