Major Coronation Street couple on the rocks as cheating fears are ‘confirmed’
Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) has her worst fears realised in upcoming Coronation Street episodes when she bumps into partner Gary Windass (Mikey North) at the police station and realises he’s there with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien). Maria demands to know what’s going on.
A few months ago Gary and his ex, Sarah, started to become close again as they confided in each other about Liam (Charlie Wrenshall)’s mental health struggles in the wake of being bullied, and about the recent imprisonment of Sarah’s boyfriend Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths).
Things went too far when Sarah tried to kiss Gary, but he was still there to support her when evil Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) returned to Weatherfield and Sarah was desperate to get rid of the man who previously groomed and raped her daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon).
In fact he was willing to beat Nathan up and when that didn’t work he gave Sarah £10,000 from the factory sale to pay Nathan to drop the assault charges and leave Weatherfield.
In upcoming episodes this comes back to bite them when Kit (Jacob Roberts) warns Sarah that DS Swain (Vicky Myers) has discovered that Nathan received some hush money to drop the case. Swain brings Sarah in for questioning and demands the truth.
Meanwhile Maria is shocked to receive a letter letting her know that Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) is due to be released from prison. She’s devastated to know that the person responsible for mercilessly bullying her son Liam to the point where he seriously considered suicide could soon be back in the area.
She heads to the police station to find out more – and sees Gary there. He’s been providing his bank statements to support Sarah’s story with the police, but obviously Maria has questions.
Will Gary tell her about the money he used to help Sarah?
He previously told her that he had to use the money to buy a new boiler for the factory. The fact that he’s lied – and the lie is to do something for Sarah – is bound to make Maria deeply suspicious as she’s had her concerns about exactly how deep Gary and Sarah’s friendship goes.
Could this be the final straw that splits Gary and Maria up for good?
