Maria delivers terrifying news in Coronation Street that leaves several people sickened

Maria reels as she arrives at the police station to find Gary in Sarah's company in Coronation Street

Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) is very much the bearer of bad news in Coronation Street this coming week as she updates some Weatherfield residents on the release of a prisoner.

Teenager Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) made Liam Connor’s (Charlie Wrenshall) life a living hell while they were at school together. Along with Dylan (Liam McCheyne) and a group of lads, Mason would regularly bully Liam and be responsible for things such as throwing rubbish at him, and sending abusive messages online.

Things got so bad for Liam that he eventually started to google ways he could end his life. Thankfully, Liam was found in time by Maria and Gary (Mikey North) before anything happened. He was able to get help for his mental health and with time, started to open up about the horrific ordeal Mason put him through.

After it transpired that Mason had threatened Liam with a knife, he was arrested and charged, before being found guilty of the crime in court.

Because this wasn’t his first offence, the judge had no choice but to give him a custodial sentence.

Unfortunately though, we recently saw Maria arrive at the police station and reveal to Sarah (Tina O’Brien) that she had just discovered Mason would soon be released. She wanted to speak to an officer about the possibility of Liam receiving protection from Mason, but got somewhat distracted when Gary emerged from an interview room.

In upcoming episodes, Dylan is made up when Stu (Bill Fellows) tells him he can have a trial shift at Speed Daal. Sadly, the happiness is short lived thanks to the arrival of Maria, who reveals to Dylan and Sean (Antony Cotton) that Mason has been released.

But what does this mean for Dylan?

During the bullying storyline, Mason regularly manipulated Dylan into keeping quiet about their behaviour, as well as forcing him to partake in bullying Liam. Does this mean there’s a risk history will repeat?

Or will Dylan stay away from him?
