Max Turner’s Coronation Street exit storyline revealed – and it’s a sad one

Coronation Street has seemingly confirmed how Max Turner’s forthcoming exit from the show will play out.

Last month, it was revealed that actor Paddy Bever would be leaving the ITV soap after three years playing Max.

There were subsequently fears he would perish in the house fire at the Platts’ – and things were indeed touch-and-go for the character when he was left fighting for his life after entering the burning property searching for sister Lily Platt (Brooke Malonie).

Thankfully, Max pulled through the ordeal, but Monday’s episode saw the bombshell revelation he was the person responsible for the fire.

After Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) clocked him on CCTV from the garage stealing petrol, he was forced to confess he’d thought that if they could claim on their house insurance, it would finally get gangster Harvey Gaskill (Will Mellor) off David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) back.

David then tried to protect Max by attempting to dispose of evidence linking him to the fire, but it seems his efforts will be in vain.

Spoilers for next week’s episodes have confirmed that Max will find himself behind bars.

In scenes to air next Wednesday, David and Shona visit Max and reveal that they’ve applied for him to be moved to a prison in Scotland to ensure his safety, seemingly fearful Harvey will wreak his revenge.

Max isn’t convinced he’ll ever be safe – but is this the last we will see of him?

Actor Paddy Bever, 22, previously confirmed news of his exit in a statement last month.

He said: ‘After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.

He added to The Mirror: ‘It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.’
