The Rovers Return has been on the market for weeks now in Coronation Street, but it seems a new landlord is soon set to take on the challenge of running the iconic boozer.

Carla Connor (Alison King) took ownership of the pub after Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy Midgeley stole a significant sum of money from her.

Earlier this year, Carla was forced to go private for her kidney transplant, and borrowed money from Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) to pay for it.

With Jenny and Daisy a long way from being able to pay Carla back, she decided to sell the pub, marking the end of an era for Jenny.

Later this year, the pub Rovers is set to be scooped up by a familiar face, as Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) returns to the cobbles – but she’s not alone.

It has been revealed that she will have a man on her arm, played by Hollywood star Aaron McCusker.

Aaron starred as Jim Hutton, Freddie Mercury’s boyfriend, opposite Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody.

More recently, he has been a regular in BBC drama Hope Street, playing Clint Dunwoody.

Now, he looks set to take on the role of Rovers landlord as he joins the cast of Coronation Street.

‘Corrie bosses were never going to take EastEnders’ shrewd decision to reinstate Kat and Alfie at the Vic lying down,’ a source told The Sun.

‘So they took their time looking for the perfect actor to play [Eva’s husband] as she makes her return to Corrie as the new boss of the Rovers.

‘When Aaron walked in, and once paired with Catherine, bosses knew they had the perfect partnership to run the soap’s iconic pub.

‘Aaron will bring his Irish charm to the pub, and the chemistry between him and Cath is electric.

‘But Aaron’s character is also someone not to be messed with, and the locals are going to be in for a shock if they think they can take advantage of his good nature and that cheeky Irish charm.

‘It’s the start of an exciting new chapter in the pub’s history.’
