‘No-one is safe’: Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd warns of murder twist

David visits Clayton at the Weatherfield prison in Corrie

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has warned of a murder twist ahead for his character David Platt, after stealing cash belonging to drug lord Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).

David has been experiencing increasing threats from the gangster in recent weeks, who is seemingly prepared to stop at nothing to get his money back.

As fans of the ITV soap will remember, last year Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) offered his ex Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) the secret stash of brother Harvey’s money after hearing about Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) medical bills – but David stashed it and got Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) to launder it for him.

Harvey later sent Matty and Logan Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff and Harry Lowbridge) to threaten David and try and get it back – but Matty is now behind bars after stabbing brother Mason (Luca Toolan) to death earlier this month.

However, with Logan still at large, Jack believes he poses a serious threat to David’s safety.

He teased: ‘When it becomes general conversation on the street that Mason was killed by one of his brothers, who are the two that are after David, he really starts to panic.

‘He’s very worried because the Radcliffe brothers are now known killers and if they’re prepared to do that to their own brother, he knows they’re not going to hesitate once they get the nod to kill him.’

Things look set to reach a head next month when a house fire rips through

Jack continues: ‘Knowing that no one is safe and they could come after his whole family, he’s panicked and he’s desperate. He’s trying to think of ways to pay the money back but it’s a huge lump sum to come up with and he’s bricking it.’

He adds: ‘David’s unpredictable, even for soap, you can see where it’s going with certain stories and that it’s not going to end well but you’re not quite sure how he’s going to get out of it or if he’s going to win in the end but hopefully he does.’
