Rape trauma haunts Amy in Coronation Street as she is confronted by face from her past
Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) is reminded of a traumatic event in her past in Coronation Street soon.
In 2023, Amy and friend Aaron spent the evening drinking together. Amy ended up getting quite tipsy and announced to Aaron that she was off to bed.
In the bedroom, as Amy drifted off to sleep, Aaron climbed into the bed and proceeded to have sex with her.
When Amy woke up, she was eventually able to remember what happened and realised – to her horror – that she was raped by Aaron due to being unable to consent.
The storyline also highlighted Aaron’s inability to accept what he had done. Eventually though, he left Weatherfield after realising he did sexually assault Amy.
Impacted by the lack of injustice towards the situation, Amy’s recovery journey has been long and challenging, and things were certainly made worse for her when she joined Rowan’s cult in 2024.
In upcoming episodes, she decides to head out for the evening to attend a party.
Just as she departs, she warns Steve (Simon Gregson) to keep his misgivings about Cassie (Claire Sweeney) to himself or he might find himself homeless.
As Amy arrives at the party venue, she is completely horrified to come face to face with Aaron’s father, Eric.
But what does he want?
While this is happening, Steve is spending time with Leanne (Jane Danson). As they reminisce about the past, Steve fails to spot urgent messages on his phone from Amy.
Is she in danger?
