ROY Cropper reaches out to Lauren Bolton’s mother in a shock move in Coronation Street.
The cafe owner has found himself to be the prime suspect in the teenager’s disappearance and potential murder.
Roy was the last person to see Lauren alive before her sudden disappearance, and has been implicated in the case after he was caught deep-cleaning her flat.
Things escalated further when he was found with a spade and black bin bags after a trip to the bat roost.
Coming up in Coronation Street, Bernie Winter‘s phone pings and she’s horrified to see that someone has posted Lauren’s mum’s contact details online.
Roy is appalled as he studies the post and against Evelyn’s better judgement, calls Lauren’s Mum, Kerry, and leaves a message offering his sympathy.
In the café, a customer makes jibes at Roy, suggesting he’s responsible for Lauren’s disappearance and as Bernie and David leap to his defence, Roy’s sickened to realise the trouble he’s brought into his friends’ lives.
DS Swain is leading the investigation, but some Corrie fans have been left annoyed by her actions on the case so far.
While long-term Coronation Street fans know Roy is innocent and would never harm another person, DS Swain does not think the same.
She has viewed Roy’s eccentricities in a very different way to those who know him well, and her approach has not gone down well with viewers.
Taking to a Reddit forum, one wrote: “How does DS Swain still have a job?”
They added: “Every little nugget that she grabs onto goes nowhere. None of the people she is suspicious of never has any charges or anything major happen to them. Can she just go away now please?”
Another wrote: “Surly Swain is useless and approaches everything with stupidity.
“But Roy, who is very intelligent and usually approaches every situation with careful thought and wisdom, is also suddenly completely stupid and out of character.”
