Sick killer Joel Deering lines up his next target and a Coronation Street fan favourite should be very afraid

Coronation Street has thrown twist after twist at us this week and, honestly, we’re struggling to keep up!

In recent scenes, Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) killer was finally revealed as sinister solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill), but that wasn’t the end of the story.

Still under the belief that abuser Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) was the man responsible, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) was left concerned that he may get away with the crime, given that the main piece of evidence linking him to Lauren had been planted by Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).

In a bid to ensure there was no chance he could get out on a technicality, Bethany arranged to meet sex-worker Ellie (Lola Blue) again.

Ellie had previously been prepared to open up to Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) about her experience of abuse and provide information about Lauren, but Bethany’s sudden arrival put her off.

However, in recent scenes, Ellie agreed to talk to Bethany, where she confirmed that the person who had abused her was Nathan, after Bethany showed her a picture.

When Bethany asked if she would be prepared to stand up in court, Ellie said no, as her mother was ill and finding out what she did for a living would ‘kill her’.

Satisfied that she had the answers she was looking for, Bethany left, unaware the killer Joel had been lurking in the next room.

As he congratulated Ellie on her story and paid her for what she had said, it became clear that she hadn’t told the truth.

Having been responsible for Lauren’s death, it was clear that Joel was determined to see client Nathan sent down in his place – even going so far as to suggest that he plead guilty to the crime.

But with Bethany sniffing around for the truth, could she pose a threat to Joel?

Following Bethany and Ellie’s encounter, it became clear that Joel had found his next target.

‘Bye bye, Bethany,’ he said in a sinister tone, before staring her down in the Rovers later that day.

Back at home, Joel pulled up the article Bethany had written about her abuse at the hands of Nathan, and began to zoom in on the picture. Talk about creepy!

What exactly does Joel have planned, and could Bethany be in danger?
