Sinister danger for Bethany Platt in Coronation Street as teen killer Joel Deering closes in and we’re terrified for her

Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) found herself in hot water in recent Coronation Street scenes after falling victim to fraud – but turning to Joel Deering (Calum Lill) for help may put her in even more danger.

Having had her mail redirected from London, she finally received the letter informing her that abuser Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) was being released from prison – something that took her by complete surprise when she saw him at Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) reconstruction.

However, she also discovered that someone had been using one of her old company credit cards, leaving her in serious trouble.

Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) was quick to advise her to get copies of the credit card statements from her old company, so that she could prove where she was at the time the purchases were made – thus proving her innocence.

Later, while Bethany was enjoying a quiet drink with Daisy and Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), she was approached by solicitor turned killer Joel, who asked her how it was going with the credit card company.

A few, very brief minutes later, Dee-Dee attempted to drag fiancé Joel away, insisting that if Bethany wanted anymore legal advice then she’d have to get it while he was on the clock.

Before heading over to join her, Joel gave Bethany a list of things to do in a bid to sort out the credit card mess, before informing her that she could speak to him for legal advice off the clock whenever she wanted.

While Bethany was none the wiser, this left us absolutely terrified for her, knowing what Joel is really like.

Following Lauren’s disappearance and Nathan’s return to the cobbles, Bethany grew certain that he was the one behind her murder, and went to great lengths to try and prove it.

When Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) planted evidence in Nathan’s van, he was finally arrested, and was represented by none other than Joel, who we soon learnt was the real killer.

Determined to let Nathan take the rap for his crime, Joel paid sex-worker Ellie to lie to Bethany by agreeing that Nathan had also abused her.

After handing over the money, Joel grew very sinister as he said, ‘Bye, bye Bethany…’

With Joel now offering Bethany free legal advice, is this just a ploy to get close to her? Does Bethany need to watch her back?
