Sinister new Joel development as another victim goes missing in Coronation Street

Vile murderer Joel Deering (Calum Lill) has seemingly played a part in the disappearance of another young girl in Coronation Street.

Last week we finally learnt that after being missing since the end of February,  Lauren (Cait Fitton) was brutally hit over the head several times by the solicitor and then left for dead in her flat.

To make matters worse, he paid off sex worker Ellie (Lola Blue) when Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) went digging for information.

Returning to full-on Stacey Dooley, investigative journalist mode, Bethany reckoned that Ellie held the answers as to whether paedophile Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), who has been wrongly implicated, was actually responsible.

Bethany first met Ellie when she interrupted her conversation with Nicky Wheatley (Kimberley Hart-Simpson) at the precinct.

She gatecrashed the meeting between the women in a desperate bid to garner info on Nathan, but after bombarding her with questions, she ran off.

After tracking her down in Friday’s (31st May) instalment, Ellie seemed hesitant to speak with Bethany about he past with Nathan, but did confirm that he was the man who abused her.

When Bethany left, Joel appeared from the shadows and handed her an envelope of cash for her silence.

In tonight’s (3rd June) episode, the mystery continued…

In his car, Joel phoned Ellie and told her to continue to avoid speaking about the incident. Elsewhere, Bethany chatted with PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), who said he would investigate in the hope of getting Ellie to make a statement.

However, later in the day, Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and Bethany were sat in the café, fuming at Joel for representing Nathan, and they slipped up about Craig’s plan.

This clearly gave him enough time to do something (exactly what, we’re not quite sure), so that by the time that PC Tinker arrived at her bedsit, she had vanished.

Her housemate advised that she’d packed her bags and gone – seemingly without explanation.

Back on Rosamund Street, Joel stood in the doorway of the old hardware shop and deleted his earlier conversation with Ellie from his call log.

Has she suffered the same fate as Lauren?
