Teen’s fate revealed as they face being the latest Coronation Street exit
Coronation Street’s Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) faces a future behind bars next week when he’s sent down over his unfortunate role in Mason Radcliffe’s (Luca Toolan) death.
As fans of the ITV soap will remember, Dylan started carrying a knife last year to protect himself.
When he later found himself in a confrontation with Matty and Logan Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff and Harry Lowbridge), their brother Mason stepped in to defend him, but they turned on him and stabbed him with Dylan’s knife.
While Matty was later sent down – and Logan going on the run – Dylan found himself facing criminal charges, and next week’s episodes see him prepare for his day in court.
Dylan fears the worst, and when Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) overhears him telling his dad Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) that he’s bound to get sent down, she urges him to stay positive.
After she assures him that she’ll visit him in prison, Betsy leans in for a kiss and he kisses her back.
In court, Dylan becomes emotional when he tells the judge how he only meant to scare Mason’s brothers with the knife, but when the judge asserts that he should be up for the more serious crime of making threats with a knife, Sean and Dylan are horrified.
His brief Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) then delivers a devastating blow that Dylan could be looking at a two-year sentence.
The judge then confirms Dylan will serve a sentence in the secure training centre – but how long will he get?
With several cast departures already confirmed in the coming months, could this sentence also pave the way for an exit from Dylan too?
Later in the week, we do see Dylan adjusting to life behind bars as Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) visits him.
Their exchange is clocked by another inmate called Brody, who quizzes Dylan and advises him that he should keep his connection to Daniel on the down low.
Brody is also first to defend Dylan when he starts getting a hard time from some of the other lads – but is Dylan right to trust him?
