Terrorism horror for Roy as the most dangerous avenger for Lauren targets him in Coronation Street
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is set to get a huge shock in Coronation Street next week as vile terrorist Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron) returns to the show.
Viewers of the ITV soap will remember that Griff was the leader of a far-right gang that exploited Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) naive demeanour to lure Max Turner (Paddy Bever) into their group of extremists.
They then wreaked havoc on the Weatherfield community by planting a bomb outside of Pakistani restaurant Speed Daal and targeted Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) for opening a refugee support centre.
Members of the gang have targeted Roy in recent months after Max visited Lauren’s dad Reece (Scott Anson) and told him about the café owner’s supposed involvement in her disappearance.
Two men then proceeded to corner him behind the counter and he was only saved when Gary Windass (Mikey North) heard a commotion from outside and alerted Carla Barlow (Alison King).
In upcoming scenes, Roy’s niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) expresses concern to Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) that her uncle won’t speak to anyone, or even leave his cell.
It becomes clear that he’s absolutely terrified of his fellow inmates.
When one of them, Roscoe (Warren Donnelly), enters his cell, Roy leaps up in terror and his chess board is sent flying.
Bemused, Roscoe leaves him to it, but little does he know a far greater enemy is just around the corner.
At Evelyn Plummer’s (Maureen Lipman) suggestion, Roy contemplates starting a book club and looks forward to a newfound focus, but elsewhere, Griff tells a guard that he’s glad to be back in Weatherfield.
