Three huge ITV Coronation Street theories: new ‘murderer’ revealed and explosive departure

Could someone unsuspected know what really happened to Lauren Bolton?

THE search for missing and possibly murdered teen Lauren Bolton continues, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Coronation Street fans believe they’ve figured out who could be responsible as Roy Cropper remains a prime suspect.

1. Shock alliance

Bobby Crawford alerted the authorities when he found Lauren Bolton’s flat empty and seemingly abandoned, as he feared something may have happened to her.

The mystery has been slowly unfolding on ITV and Roy Cropper’s behaviour has raised suspicions.

Despite his reputation in Weatherfield, making him a firm favourite among fans, the café owner portrayed by David Neilson is at the top of the list of suspects due the fact he was caught cleaning Lauren’s flat after her disappearance.

In more recent scenes of the Manchester-based program, Sean Tully pointed out some blood in Lauren’s flat, prompting Bobby and Carla Connor to tell the police everything.

Lauren’s disappearance was then treated as a murder investigation and, in a shock twist, Roy was arrested before being trolled online.

Things go from bad to worse for Roy as he tells his niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) that he has been asked to go back to the police station to be questioned.

After hearing his father David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) and stepmother Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) speculating whether Lauren’s dad’s far right group could be involved, Max Turner (Paddy Bever) decides to secretly pay Reece a visit in prison.

Once there, he tells him how Roy is wrongly suspected of Lauren’s murder when all he did was clean the flat for her.

Later in the café, Roy finds himself alone apart from two dodgy men sitting at a table.

When one of them gets up and locks the door, Roy realises he’s in danger – could he be left to die in his café?

While the outcome of this interaction remains to be seen, one could theorise that Roy will be approached by two men who are close to Lauren’s father Reece Bolton.

Reece is serving a prison sentenced and could be desperate to get answers about his daughter’s disappearance.

This could lead both men to figure out Roy has had nothing to do with Lauren’s “murder” and they could even form an alliance with the café owner, along with those closest to him and Lauren, in a bid to uncover the whole truth.

Could Bobby be hiding something?

2. “Murder” culprit uncovered

Speaking of which, viewers of the Manchester-based program are convinced somebody close to Lauren may have hurt her.

As mentioned above, Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) took it upon himself to tell the police Lauren was missing.

He has since been very active in the search for his wayward love interest, whom he knew was being pestered by a persistent and possibly dangerous ex-boyfriend.

But what if Bobby’s involvement with the investigation could be his way of covering up his own crimes?

Could he have made Lauren pay for not giving him the attention or relationship he wanted with her?

“Not keen on Bobby he’s not what he seems I feel!”, one viewer commented on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Another agreed: “Yeah he is defo involved in something to do with Lauren” while a third echoed: “Creepy Bobby’s concerned about Lauren act is just a front.”

One fan reminded other viewers that Bobby definitely has the murder gene in him as he is the son of convicted murderer Rob Donovan.

“Bobby definitely knows what’s happened to Lauren and him pushing to ‘find out’ what happened to her is a cover-up. Like dodgy father, like dodgy son”, they wrote.

Could they be right?

Will Tracy remain in the cobbles after Tommy's exit?

3. Explosive exit

Steve McDonald was shocked beyond belief when his wife Tracy Barlow admitted she had grown bored with their marriage.

The florist portrayed by Kate Ford has been cavorting with former football player Tommy Orpington and was caught red-handed with her lover by Steve’s best pal in Weatherfield, Tim Metcalfe.

But once her illicit romance was exposed, and as mentioned above, Tracy doubled down, pointing out that her boredom could have been the cause of her affair with Tommy.

Tracy ended things with Steve right there and then, despite spending decades pining over him, before being kicked out of No.1 by her own family.

Since then, she has been focusing on a fresh start and Tommy Orpington appears to be a part of her future – or so she believes.

This week, Tracy’s daughter Amy (Elle Mulvaney) convinces her father Steve (Simon Gregson) that it’s best if she tells the florist about her beau’s upcoming move to Spain.

However, in the Rovers, Steve lets slip to Tracy that Tommy has accepted a job as football coach in Spain.

The cabbie takes things to another level when he suggests to Tracy that with Tommy out of the way, they could give their marriage another go, despite her previously being clear on her intentions to end it.

Once again, this remains to be seen but Tommy (Matt Milburn) seems clear on what he really wants.

The decorator calls at the florist’s and begs Amy to have a word with Tracy for him as he’d like a chance to explain himself before he leaves.

Could he declare his love to Tracy?

Could Tracy decide to give Weatherfield and her flower shop up to go to Spain with Tommy?

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
