Toyah Battersby’s sickened as Rowan Cunliffe reveals the depraved way he will destroy Leanne in Coronation Street
Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) is left sickened in upcoming Coronation Street scenes when she realises the depths Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) is prepared to sink to to destroy Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Leanne has been well and truly taken in by Rowan and The Institute, though Toyah and Nick Tilsley have been able to see through the cult from the very start.
Unfortunately, their lack of support for Leanne’s new passion has caused a rift between them, with Leanne in turn leaning on Rowan for support more and more.
In recent scenes, Nick gave Leanne an ultimatum, insisting that she either choose him or The Institute.
Calling his bluff, Leanne said that they needed some time apart, before heading off with a smug looking Rowan.
While bonding over their concern for Leanne, Toyah and Nick ended up kissing, leaving his relationship with his fiancé in an even more precarious position.
In upcoming scenes, it appears that Leanne wants to make amends when she offers to pay for Rose’s funeral out of her savings.
Viewers will remember that Toyah was recently arrested for the murder of her baby, after her body was found in the local park. Toyah buried baby Rose in secret after she was stillborn in 2001, and had never told anyone until she confided in Nick after internet sleuths began to dig in the area, hoping to find evidence of Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder.
On the day of the funeral, Toyah is disgusted to see Rowan hanging around, and wastes no time in confronting him. As she shoves him and orders him to stay away, Leanne is left horrified, before revealing that the money for the funeral didn’t come from her savings after all, but from Rowan.
As Leanne heads off, Nick is left in despair, while Toyah warns Rowan that she will do whatever it takes to expose what a vile man he really is, leaving him clearly shaken.
Both reeling from the encounter, Toyah and Nick confide in each other once again, with Toyah eventually breaking down in his arms.
As is becoming habit for these two, they soon end up passionately kissing – blissfully unaware that someone is watching them from the builder’s yard…
While Leanne meets up with Rowan for an uploading session, Nick and Toyah go to bed together, though immediately afterwards they insist that it must never happen again.
However, Toyah’s conscience soon gets the better of her, as she finds Nick to tell him that they must come clean to Leanne.
Their day then goes from bad to worse when they find that Rowan is holding a meeting in the Bistro, and at the first opportunity he corners Toyah to hand her an NDA.
As he pushes her to sign it, Toyah insists that she won’t be blackmailed and intends to come clean. However, when Rowan points out that it will destroy Leanne and is prepared to pick up the pieces, Toyah is left sickened.
Will Rowan’s threats scare Toyah into keeping quiet about her brief affair with Nick?
