Tracy harbours a killer as she comes face to face with on-edge Rob in Coronation Street
Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) is set to get the shock of her life in upcoming Coronation Street scenes when she comes face to face with former flame Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).
In 2014, Tracy and Rob were hopelessly in love, and were even set to get married, until sister Carla Connor (Alison King) reported Rob to the police on their wedding day for the murder of Tina McIntyre.
Having previously harboured Rob when he escaped from prison in 2017, it’s no wonder it is Tracy he turns to in his time of need now.
Rob has been on the run ever since he escaped hospital after donating a kidney to Carla.
Having been double-crossed and left for dead by his sister and her girlfriend, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), Rob is eager for revenge.
When Carla drops Roy Cropper (David Neilson) off at the hospital next week, she is shocked to see prison guard Mandy, who assisted Rob in kidnapping her last month.
Ordering Roy to keep an eye on her, Carla calls Lisa for back-up, and soon the pair are trailing Mandy as she leaves the car park.
As they chase down Rob’s accomplice, Tracy is stunned to stumble across the man himself back on Coronation Street.
‘She can’t believe it,’ actress Kate Ford teased, ‘but at the same time she’s still got a bit of a soft spot for him, so she does let him come into the house without much persuasion.’
The next day, Rob convinces Tracy to meet with his contact and collect a fake passport, so that he can flee the country.
‘She doesn’t want to get involved in it, but she just feels bad that she’s not helping him because at a time they were in love. I don’t think she feels like that for him anymore but she acknowledges that he came back for her when he burst into the courtroom.
‘She feels she owes him this. She says, “I’ll do this for you for one night but that’s it”.’
As Tracy collects a package in the ginnel, she is unaware that co-worker Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) is watching, intrigued.
Having secured the goods, Tracy puts pressure on Rob to leave, but they are interrupted by Mary pounding on the door…
As ailing Rob tries to make his escape, his legs give way and he screams in pain.
With Tracy having successfully chased Mary away, she is horrified to find Rob on the floor in the kitchen.
However, the shocks keep coming for Tracy, who is left stunned when Rob suggests she should leave with him so they can start a new life together.
‘She can’t believe what he’s talking about, she just thinks it’s crazy,’ Kate explained.
‘He’s got a gaping hole in the side of his body and some sort of infection and she just thinks he’s lost his mind. He needs to get to the hospital, he’s not talking sense. I think it would take a lot to persuade her at this point.’
Will Rob manage to get Tracy to agree?
