Two major Coronation Street exits confirmed as big storylines reach their conclusion
Coronation Street have confirmed the exits of two major characters as Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) received his sentencing and Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) made a decision over her future.
Former drug dealer seemed to have made a new image for himself after returning to Weatherfield last year to reconcile with Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien).
Having changes his ways after forcing innocent son Jacob (Jack James Ryan) out of the area, he made a promise to his new girlfriend that he would focus on building a future with her and son Harry.
However, when Sarah’s estranged husband Adam (Sam Robertson) began to twist the knife, things were always going to end badly.
Teaming up with killer Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), the solicitor planned to get rid of his enemy from the cobbles forever, but the plan backfired.
Uh-oh.
In an act of damage control, and to guarantee Sarah’s protection, Damon agreed to take part in an armed robbery for his brother, but was ultimately arrested.
In tonight’s (12th April) instalment, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) delivered the devastating news that he’d been sent down for 6 years.
Meanwhile, Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) was elated that his granddaughter Eliza would be returning from staying with her dad in Germany.
Eliza was first introduced to fans almost two years ago when Stu gained custody of her due to the imprisonment of her mum Bridget (Beth Vyse) and grandmother Lucy (Lynda Rooke).
Stu had served a 27 year sentence for the murder of a girl he worked with in the 80s, but it was in fact Bridget who had killed her with Lucy helping to pin the blame on her husband.
After his time spent inside, he was then made homeless and became estranged from his family, but after getting his life back on track and coupling up with Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King), he decided to reach out to them.
Unaware that his family had implicated him for the crime, newly examined DNA evidence revealed the true circumstances surrounding the death and the women were sent down, with Stu awarded £200k compensation money.
When Eliza struggled to fit into life at No. 6, she reached out to her dad Dom last year which led to Stu paying a private investigator to do some digging on him.
Finding out that he had another family in Germany, he was adamant that his granddaughter wasn’t going to move away with him and paid him to leave forever.
Last month, Dom was spotted lurking around again and asked to return the £10k bribe money.
After coming clean to Eliza, she went to stay with him on the other side of Europe in the school holidays with a view to making it her home.
With her stay now over, she tonight announced that she wanted to return on a more permanent basis.
