Vile Coronation Street troublemaker asked to leave after upsetting worried mum
Coronation Street villain Joel Deering has continued his reign of terror in recent scenes after being hauled into the police station once more.
Despite being guilty of grooming and attacking Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), Joel’s crimes have so far gone unpunished thanks to a lack of evidence against him.
However, this hasn’t stopped DS Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) attempts to bring him down, and in tonight’s episode she thought she’d found a new way to nail him for attempting to murder Lauren’s unborn baby.
Viewers will know that Lauren had fallen pregnant with Joel’s baby and, knowing that it would link him to his crimes, Joel drugged her to induce an early labour.
When the drugs were found in Lauren’s system, she was accused of taking them herself, but Lisa set out to prove that that wasn’t the case.
After spotting the Bistro van outside the flat Joel had previously shared with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), Lisa requested the dashcam footage, hoping that it would show the drugs being delivered to Joel.
Through the footage, Lisa was able to find out which company had supplied the drugs, and soon pulled Joel in for questioning.
During the interrogation, Lisa revealed that baby Frankie’s health had taken a turn for the worse, so Joel could be facing a murder charge should he die.
Following the interview, Joel was free to leave, and wasted no time in heading to the hospital to visit Frankie.
Of course, Lauren was horrified to see him, and ordered him out, pointing out that it was his fault that Frankie had suffered a brain bleed.
Joel put on quite the show as he argued that it was Lauren who had taken the drugs of her own accord.
Soon, the commotion drew the attention of the doctors, who demanded that Joel leave.
With Lauren in a state, best friend Max Turner (Paddy Bever) headed back to the street to confront Lisa, demanding that she do something about Joel. Will Lisa ever be able to put him behind bars?
