Where you’ve seen Coronation Street’s Felix amid Hollywood star’s debut after rival soap appearance

Summer's new boyfriend Felix is portrayed by a Hollywood star

A Hollywood actor has been picked by Coronation Street bosses for the role of Summer Spellman’s new boyfriend Felix.

The student portrayed by Harriet Bibby ended her three-month long absence from the cobbles on Wednesday as she returned to No.19a Rosamund Street, where she was reunited with Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brockleblank) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).

Summer was bleakly reminded of Paul’s deteriorating condition upon her return, seeing him getting familiar with some new equipment, allowing him to communicate with his loved as he is progressively losing his motor skills and speech due to his motor neurone disease (MND).

However, Summer had an even bigger bombshell to drop on both of her fathers as she announced she hadn’t returned from the United States alone and her new beau Felix quickly made his own arrival in later scenes.

Soap bosses have signed English actor Robin Morrissey to portray the newcomer. Born and raised in Liverpool, Robin trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he graduated with a BA in acting. While he performed in multiple productions on stage, Robin counts several TV credits to his name – and has even made his mark in Hollywood.

Robin appeared as a young Timothy Langland Cavendish in the 2013 film Cloud Atlas directed by Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer and Lilly Wachowski, starring alongside Halle Berry, Hugh Grant and Tom Hanks in his first professional acting job.

He has since appeared in several shows on the small screen, gaining recognition for the role of Will Hurran in the BBC One medical drama Doctors, which was cancelled in later 2023. Robin has also made an appearance in The Tower on ITV, where he played a character named Sergeant Fred Thompson, Little Crackers and Apple Tree Yard. But what sort of trouble will he be bringing to the cobbles?

Spoilers revealed that Summer would be finding love again after breaking up with devious Aaron Sandford when she discovered he’d raped her best friend Amy Barlow in a gut-wrenching storyline.

Felix is set to appear in a number of episodes of the Manchester-based drama, helping Summer settle back into Weatherfield. The student made the heart-breaking decision to follow her dream across the pond earlier this year, despite Paul’s deteriorating health.

Viewers weren’t impressed with Felix’s first appearance in the long-running show as they pointed out that he could cause a rift within Summer’s family in an infidelity twist with Todd Grimshaw.

Following Wednesday’s trip to the cobbles, another theory about Felix emerged as viewers doubt Summer will get the sweet romance she probably expects. “I bet Summer’s new fella is actually a tutor from the university of America Who has come alone to use Paul as a ‘case study’ #Corrie”, one fan speculated on X.

“Is Summer’s boyfriend with her to study Paul up and close. I dunno what to think about him. #Corrie”, another echoed while a third added: “#corrie Don’t let Felix anywhere near Paul.” A fourth agreed: “I don’t like him, there’s something off about him. Run summer, run #Corrie.”

Felix expressed a particular interest in Paul’s condition when he was first introduced to Billy, Paul and, eventually, Todd. But could he have sinister intentions?
