Who is leaving Coronation Street in 2025? All the exits and returns as insiders deny crisis
Coronation Street will see some big changes in 2025 - with some huge exits and also some huge returns - as soap insiders rubbish rumours of a crisis on the ITV soap
Coronation Street bosses have warned of some unexpected exits in 2025.
The cast of the ITV soap is going through some huge changes in the coming months. Producer Kate Brooks recently warned: “There are a few exits this year, and some unexpected ones that will send shockwaves. People might not expect the exits, but there are a few.”
However, soap insiders have insisted to The Mirror that there are big things coming for the show. An insider told us: “Corrie is in no way on the brink of collapse. Corrie’s vision for the future on the show has secured its place on screens for years to come.
“Fans can ignore any idea that within a decade the soap will be gone, because it’s in no way on the brink of collapse. There’s some really exciting twists ahead for our favourite characters and couples, with a massive stunt that will no doubt bring the drama, as well as some hard-hitting storylines bringing some of soap’s biggest characters to the forefront.
“It really is a case of one door closes and another opens in that some familiar faces will be leaving, but others will be back – and the new faces could be just what the show needs. There’s so much ahead so the idea the end of Corrie is in sight is bonkers.”
Here’s all the people leaving and returning in 2025.
2025 exits
Debbie Webster will depart the soap in big scenes when she is diagnosed with dementia. Sue Devaney – who plays Debbie – is reportedly thrilled to be a part of such a huge storyline and hopes it will raise awareness of the condition.
Bethany Platt will make a brief exit from the Cobbles this year as actress Lucy Fallon goes on maternity leave. Bethany is set to depart the Cobbles when she takes on a new job down in London, amid a split from her partner Daniel Osbourne.

Evelyn Plummer will be bidding a brief farewell to the show as Maureen Lipman takes a break from the soap. The exit storyline will see Evelyn decide to move away from the family home and into halls as she plans to take her law studies more seriously.
Daisy Midgeley has been confirmed as one of the characters leaving in 2025. Daisy – played by Charlotte Jordan – is expected to be leaving in summer 2025 as part of a huge storyline which will see the return of her mother Christina.
Eileen Grimshaw’s departure from the ITV soap has been in the works for two years. Sue Cleaver will be leaving the show this year, decades after she first arrived in the Cobbles. It is not known how her exit will happen just yet, but bosses have confirmed her sister Julie Carp will make a return to the show as part of the final storylines.

Craig Tinker will be leaving the Cobbles in the coming months after actor Colson Smith confirmed he had been axed by producers. Of his exit, he said: “I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. I’ve learnt pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy.”
Yasmeen Nazir will be departing the show this year. Actress Shelley King has confirmed she is leaving the role in a yet to be revealed storyline. It is believed Yasmeen will leave in March, with her final scenes set to air then.
Mason Radcliffe tragically died at the start of 2025 in sad scenes when Luca Toolan’s character was killed by his brothers. Mason was attacked and stabbed by his siblings after he revealed they were responsible for the death of DS Swain’s partner.
Matty Radcliffe – the brother of Mason – has also left the show. In his dramatic final scenes, he took a prison guard hostage and has now seemingly confirmed his character has exited, saying he had “gone out with a bang”.

Julie Carp will make her return to the soap this year for Eileen Grimshaw’s exit storyline. Actress Katy Cavanagh is reprising the role as Julie in the soap and will make her debut next month. Speaking about the scenes, Corrie boss Kate Brooks said: “We’re delighted to have the inimitable Julie Carp back on the Cobbles. As the ever lovable Julie breezes back into the lives of the Grimshaws, not everything is quite as it seems, and Julie’s secret sets off a chain of events that has huge ramifications for Eileen.
“Katy has slipped back into Julie’s shoes with such ease that it’s like she’s never been away, and we can’t wait for the audience to watch Julie’s story unfold; a story full of love, laughter and tears.”
Christina Boyd will also return this year for Daisy Midgeley’s huge exit storyline, set to take place in the summer. An insider confirmed to The Mirror that Christina – played by Amy Robbins – will be back once again.
“Christina’s return certainly causes drama and she’s going to be ruffling some feathers throughout her time on the Cobbles. It’s a brilliant storyline for Christina and Daisy in what will be some of Charlotte’s final months on screen,” a source told us.
“It’ll be sad to say Daisy leave the show, but we’ve got a few months of Christina causing all kinds of chaos before then. The cast are thrilled to welcome Amy back to the show in what will no doubt be a big storyline for the pair.”

Rob Donovan made a return to the show earlier this month amid his sister Carla Connor’s need for a new kidney.
Actor Marc Baylis shared of Rob’s real intentions with his sister: “He loves his sister. Carla is the closest that he’s had with any of his relationships. It’s the longest relationship that he’s ever had. He feels that Carla is the only person who would truly understand him, even above Tracy, because of everything that they experienced together growing up. So regardless of what behaviour Rob shows or what he expresses, deep down underneath everything is, is a lot of love. So this seems to suggest there is no drama and he really does want to help Carla in her time of need. But is he a changed man?”
