On Monday night, Abi Webster was left devastated when she switched on the TV to hear the presenter singing the praises of Corey and his football prowess. Soap watchers will recall that Nina Lucas and her then boyfriend Seb Franklin were attacked by a gang of thugs in 2021 as part of a hate-crime storyline, where they shouted abuse about the character’s goth identity. Abi’s son Seb later died from his injuries in heartbreaking scenes.

The storyline had many similarities to what happened to Sophie Lancaster, who was murdered in a Lancashire park in 2007, and the soap worked with a foundation set up by the late 20-year-old’s mother Dr Sylvia Lancaster OBE. As part of the storyline, Corey and Kelly Neelan were arrested following the horrific hate crime attack with Nina, who had been suffering from memory loss, later remembering that it was in fact Corey who killed Seb. Eventually, Corey was charged with Seb’s murder and he later pleaded guilty to murdering Abi’s son Seb, where he was put in prison.

Abi was left horrified earlier this week to see Corey being praised on TV to which husband Kevin Webster was forced to reveal that Corey is playing for the prison football team. Having watched the documentary, painting Corey as a hero, Abi was left furious as she and Nina showed up at the TV company responsible for the documentary, storming their way into the producer’s office, demanding answers.

On Wednesday’s episode, Nina and Abi are pleased to see that a petition has been started demanding the documentary be scrapped. However, Abi is set for more horror later in the week when her former drug dealer, Dean, shows up begging for help as he’s hit a rough patch to which she sends him packing. The altercation is witnessed by Cassie Plummer, who previously took a fancy to Kevin and saw Abi as a rival. Later, in the office, Tyrone opens an email and is horrified by its contents, telling Abi he has some shocking news.

Spoilers for later in the week appear to reveal what the email contains as Abi is horrified to see that a sex video has been uploaded to other websites. It’s not long until Cassie lets slip to Kevin how she saw Abi arguing with Dean shortly before the sex video was released and then overheard her arranging to meet him to hand over cash.

Meanwhile, Abi meets Dean and brandishing a wrench, accuses him of making the sex tape. A stunned Dean insists he has no idea what she’s talking about to which a furious Abi doesn’t believe him. Kevin arrives just in time as he orders Abi to drop the wrench. As Dean is taken in for police questioning, Abi learns four more videos have been uploaded. But as she studies the footage Abi realises it’s not actually her and they are all deep fakes in a horrifying twist. Who is behind the videos?
