Coronation Street’s Samia Longchambon ‘proud’ as she marks special occasion with TV son Charlie Wrenshall
Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon, who has played hairdresser Maria Connor for 24 years, has shared a sweet tribute to her co-star as he celebrates his 15th birthday.
The actress is currently embarking on a huge storyline with Charlie Wrenshall, who has played her on-screen son Liam Connor for the last twelve years.
In the ITV soap, Liam is at the centre of a bullying ordeal, orchestrated by vile teenager Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan).
As well as a wave of online abuse, Mason has also wielded a knife at poor Liam, which has left him contemplating suicide.
The young actors have been praised for their roles in the tough story, which continues this week as Maria and husband Gary Windass (Mikey North) fight for justice for Liam.
Yesterday (4th March), Samia took to Instagram to share a series of throwback pics of her and Charlie, alongside an adorable tribute: ‘Happy 15th Birthday to you, my brilliant telly son’ she began.
‘You’ve been part of our Coronation Street family since you were a toddler and I’m so proud of the young man you are today, a total pro’ on set (even working hard on your birthday), a fantastic actor, always a joy to be around and a true credit to your real life parents Karen and Pete!’
‘Don’t go changing..’ she concluded.
The tribute was shared to Samia’s 439,000 followers, many of whom offered their own best wishes to the youngster on his big day.
Actor Charlie Condou, who played Maria’s boyfriend Marcus Dent for four years across two separate stints wrote: ‘Aw happy birthday Charlie!! Miss you guys.’Corrie actors Channique Sterling-Brown, Jodie Prenger, Daniel Brocklebank and Georgia Taylor all liked the post, whilst Bobby Bradshaw, who plays Gary’s son Jake Windass commented a heart-eye emoji.
Charlie is the fifth actor to play Liam, who was born on-screen in 2009, nine months after the death of father Liam Connor Snr (Rob James-Collier) in a hit and run that was orchestrated by evil factory owner Tony Gordon (Gray O’Brien).
