Coronation Street’s Carla touched by unexpected and kind gesture that will save her life
Carla Connor (Alison King) was left stunned by a generous and unexpected offer from Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) ahead of her liver transplant during Friday’s Coronation Street.
The factory boss was told she’d need major surgery after suffering complications from sepsis over Christmas.
A search for a donor liver led her nephew Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) to reach out to his estranged father Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss), who is still in prison for Tina McIntyre’s (Michelle Keegan) murder over a decade ago.
Rob has since agreed to help his sister, but Carla was left reeling when she was told if she accepted his offer, she would have to go private due to the cost of keeping a prisoner in hospital.
In the latest episode of the ITV soap, Carla learned that it would not be an insignificant amount either, with her medical bill set to stand at £100,000, leaving her wondering where she would find the cash.
She then summoned Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) to her bedside and demanded they pay back the money they stole from her, otherwise she’d report them to the police.
Fans will remember that Jenny and Daisy repurchased the Rovers in 2023 with money Jenny’s dead murderous ex Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) had stolen from Carla.
When the truth came out, Carla did not report them to the police, but claimed the pub was hers until Jenny and Daisy paid her back every penny.
As the pair reeled from the threats, Carla later received a visit from girlfriend DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and daughter Betsy with some exciting news.
Revealing her late mum Becky had left her a sizeable amount of money in her will, Besty said she would like to lend Carla £50k.
While deeply touched, Carla initially turned down the offer, before Lisa and Betsy managed to talk her around and she gladly accepted.
But will villainous Rob throw a last-minute spanner in the works?
