Viewers of Coronation Street were left convinced newcomer Brie was hiding a secret link to past villain Joel Deering after Friday’s episode.
The new character, who is in prison with Lauren Bolton, caused drama ahead of more scenes for her next week. Brie was first introduced on Wednesday, in the mother and baby unit with her daughter – the same unit Lauren is in with baby son Frankie.
Lauren remains in prison and is currently on trial for Joel’s murder. She attacked her abuser in self-defence after he tried to kill her boyfriend Max Turner, and now she awaits her fate.
Suspicions were raised over Brie earlier this week when she taunted Lauren for no reason, before making jibes about Joel. Calling him “fit”, she mocked Lauren for being in here for his murder, leaving Lauren rattled.
On Friday she targeted Lauren yet again knowing she was in the middle of a trial. She revealed she was getting out of prison and had come to say goodbye.
She called Lauren jealous and said she’d be old before she was released. She wound Lauren up and eventually Lauren snapped, threatening her before the pair were separated.

Now, viewers are speculating over who Brie is and why she might be targeting Lauren. Some fans think she could have known Joel and might have been linked to him.
One theory read: “I think that Joel groomed that lady as well. That is why she brought it up with Lauren. Memories all over again.” Another fan posted: “I was hoping when she first approached Lauren that she had been groomed by Joel as well, maybe she is helping someone connected to Joel instead.”
Days ago fans were sure there was something dark on the way, and that there had to be a reason for Brie to be targeting Lauren for no given reason. One fan said: “Something tells me there is more to her than we see. Is she dark?”
Another fan said: “Why is that Brie lass being so mean to Lauren though? Is this gonna lead to something big?” as a third wrote: “This was a weird interaction.” Other fans questioned if she was hiding her identity, and was somehow linked to Lauren’s past.
A further theory read: “I wonder if she’s an informer?” as another said she was “up to something”. It comes as Lauren’s onscreen boyfriend Max Turner is set to leave the ITV soap, with actor Paddy Bever quitting the role. The star has already filmed his final scenes and will depart from the screen in early spring.
